I tried that.  It took twice as long to cook, and some was baked onto
the bottom of the rice cooker, but It definitely improved the texture
of the long-grain, almost to the point of proper glugginess.  It didn't
do anything for the inferior flavour of the rice though.

I leave in a couple of hours, going west, but this time I have left
Jason with a 10kg bag of Calrose, which should keep him fed for a
while, until I return.

Same as Australian aborigines.  Most are mixed race, but if tribal
elders consider them aboriginal, that is good enough.

That would not make for relaxed, comfortable living.

In South Australia (unlike parts of Sydney) there is little ethnic
grouping.  Where I live the accent of population has changed from all
white, to some aborigine, to Vietnamese/Chinese, to Middle East to
Somali and Sudanese.  Each wave has left some representatives here, so
now there is a great mixture of cultures, and this is reflected in the
food I can buy locally.

Where there are smaller ethnic groups there is more inter-marrying.
That happened in Darwin a lot.
