Ärende: Asian Market shopping

Now, we all love a deal!

I'll start that I got away scott-free with a mere 90.95$ and have at least 1
week worth of goodies for 3 folks.  Not at all bad.

I didnt track many individual prices, but some items I have questions on how
to make up.

First- Not bought, but lovely looking- whole roasted soy glazed ducks for
14$, appear about 3.5 lbs with the neck still on.  Since I want the fat from
the cooking, I passed.

1 frozen duck (here we go again!) 8.80$ - looks about as big as they get,
cant beat this price at the commisary.  They are about 14$ there.

1 fresh large squid for stuffing- Sasebo sized, a good 12-14 inch body
cavity, 2.99lb which is great for here at this season.

Bunch of 'Chinese brocoli' that is perfection for the species, probably 3 lbs

Bunch of baby bok choy (about 1lb) of the true small tender sort, these
babies arent but 3 inches long

1 lb frozen squid rings

1 lb frozen squid parts (has tentacles etc in there)

1 lb frozen baby octopus (about 2.5 inches across)

1 lb frozen won-ton treats (pork, shrimp, and vegtable) 2.99

10lbs jasmine rice from Thailand (now and again we like a swap)

1 lb tapioca noodles (this one mentioned here so we got some, now recipes
please? These are not the super glutineous ones we saw for candy but regular
eating type), dried

1 lb yam noodles (same as the above, have not fixed them often and could use
ideas), dried

2 lbs tofu

2 asian eggplants

1 large kohlrabi (hadnt had these before, need simple ideas on fixing them to
see what they are like)

8oz bottle kimchee seasoning (wet, not dry, looking for my korean sauce and
this seemed a possible bet)

16oz bottle mirin (ran out already from the first bottle bought here)

8 pack of sushi (eaten already, lovely)

8 pack of large 'spring rolls' (local made at store, good stuff)

3 bars of soap, Bee & Flower (not hard to find, nice scent and not expensive
in Asia and often fairly cheap USA as well)

1 wallhanging planter with dolphins

1 pack of what might be my korean red pepper (all gone now), 8oz or so

16oz karo syrup

1 large apple pastry (charlotte ate this on the way home)

4 lbs tilapia fillets

1 bag of vanilla waifers (asian blend, not as sweet as USA, more cruciferous
feeling in the mouth)

8 oz fresh kimchee

4 oz fresh bamboo shoots, matchsticked

4 large tangarine-like oranges (they look like meekans on steroids)

So, seemed a good deal for 90$ at least to us!  I'm sure that there are little 
 things i didnt list here of interest but well, best memory now that it's all
stored away.

I also looked long and hard at the Sriacha sauce in the plastic bottle
thinking it looks pretty close to my korean sauce.

I also had to go to Kroger for a few other things.  Minor stuff.  Butter,
self raising flour, cold medicines (Charlotte has a winter cold with stuffy
nose), eggs.  Found pre-spiced buffalo wings for 7.99 for a 3lb bag. Ok, yes,
I can spice my own but this is a fast food for us.  Toss'em in the micro and
eat stuff.  Also 5 for 10$ pizzas (frozen) so we got 5.  That will last us 2
months at the minimum here for pizzas.

Got the butter at 1.99lb and same for a dozen eggs. Wish I'd thought of the
eggs at ASian Grocery as they were cheaper there by 20cents.

All in all, cant beat the Asian grocery for prices.
