I'm bringing in the big fancy one for the next week and have only to install
some software (OLX) and find the external floppy drive to be able to read my
QWK packets on it.  Forgive though if i get really quiet after tonight as we
are going to be horribly busy with drills and such.  Normal ships 'certify'
every 2 years but they step that up faster for us forward deployed folks and
as we have little time in port, are always doing this stuff when we get in. 
It's a bummer, but we all realize it is also important so we deal with it as
best as we can.

Today, we drilled 'suck rubber'.  That sounds odd but is my fun little way to
drill the locker on how to put on a gas mask fast (rubber=gas mask).  We did
CBR drills (Chemical Biological Radiation) for the afternoon and I told them
to relax gas masks than at random times, yelled 'suck rubber' and they have to
all don their mask in 9 seconds or less from the carrysack at their waist.  A
goodly portion of them can do this in less than 5 seconds.  I think all of
them had a good seal of the rubber mask by 9 seconds.  Oh the main drill was
all sorts of other things related as well, but that was my fun part and i got
the rest of the locker to play with me which we all enjoy.

Sure would be!  As it is, I think I wont be settled enough for a summer 2007
Virgina beach cooking picnic (I think we settled that on another for later
anyways) but if I get to Virginia Beach that year, 2008 will be time for a
southern cookfest for sure!  As it is, I think I'll miss the one i saw some
chatter about, by 3-4 weeks before i get back.  I missed the last one by a
mere week (had to go back to Japan before it).
