Just came back home after an impromptu shopping trip.  Elise called as there
was a glut of some stuff we wanted so I trotted up to meet her.  On the way, I
checked in on our local meat place with the 'kosher' butcher and got a few
sliced bits of beef and some marrow bones.

Our little shopping cart came back stuffed to the gills with all sorts of
oddiments.  Some more 'odd' than 'normal' for the rest of you perhaps, but
suitable for us here.  It was about 75% fresh veggies and fruits, 10% 'other'
and 15% meat products.

Best buy, a little sunscreen bottle of a traveler size, SPF50, just right for
our 4 day trip to Okinawa.  530 yen which isnt bad for here and better quality
than the few items they have in Sasebo as well as the right sized bottle.

The marrow bones will be made up with some of the 'soup shrimp' into a hearty
stock that will grace many meals.  It has to wait though for the baby-crock to
be empty.  The baby crock is now going with a batch of 'cooking apples'
(little tart bits of heaven, with honey and sugar for now, and later will add
nutmeg and cinnimon).  The apples will need to cook down overnight to be
'right' and the resulting slurry will be a lumpy sort of apple filling for
eating on ice cream or rice.  I've enough to make a nice noshe for a decent
sized flock tomorrow and the word is quietly spreading already...

You can hear the flock whispering.. Chicken soup and appled rice..  yumm, lets
go there tomorrow after the base tour with our parents..  You can hear one of
them whispering back 'appled rice?  Gross!' and another giggling and saying
'more for the rest of us then'...

Appled rice is a sort of rice pudding thing.  I put out a feeler for some
raisons as i'm out and got back some pecans which is a different bent on this
but will work well at serving time.

Terrence hurt his knee out jogging so we are taking his kids.  His wife is out
at sea this week so everyone has been helping out in little bits.  He's one of
the folks that saves Don from cab faire when I am at sea by making a group
trip with his van to the commisary for the heavy bulky stuff.

Jack's boy Mike has the sweets for Charlotte so he's taking part in the group
just to keep his hoodlum in bounds (grin, not to worry, Mike is a sweetie and
Charlotte is silently quite happy to have an admirer).
