That doesn't sound very appetizing; it also sounds like she didn't reduce
the wine.

None that I know of.  I seem to have skipped those; I'm only allergic to
stuff I can inhale.

Of course.  They have those around here.  I stay out, not young enough to
waste money on that stuff any more...most of the time.  I will soon have a
good excuse for it though as my niece is 9 months old and has a full head
of hair.

I've been known to use them in both hands, which has weirded out a few
waiters.  Speaking of weird, have you ever eaten something called Junket? 
It's a traditional New England rennet custard that doesn't turn up much
outside of the area, at least the last I looked.  It could definitely be
considered weird by anyone turned off by eating the lining of a cow's
stomach. The stuff comes in vanilla, chocolate and a couple of berry
flavors. 

-> for taste trials there and we ended up getting all 3 things.  One is a
sort of 
-> fried tofu confection with a mild fish paste center.  Another is a mixed 
-> tofu-beef burger with a fantastic sauce that you boil in a bag.  The 3rd
is a 
-> sort of all beef beanie wienie (2 for 1 sale and a steal for Japan at
298 yen 
-> for an 8oz bag each).

Sounds like fun.  I had hot dogs and sauerkraut for lunch.  I'd imagine
those would be considered weird food in Sasebo, especially the caraway
seeds in the sauerkraut!

You've got me.  I've seen a few fresh lychees and longans, but that's about
as exotic as it gets around here.

-> partly due to the storm now that I think of it.  Sasebo gets hit pretty
