That's what most people buy/use as it's more readily available.  But,
it does have those nasty flavor components as Dave mentioned.

Very much so. It's the one used in Mexican cooking; it was a Mexican
cook book that tuned me into the fact that there were the 2 different
types.  But, at the time, we lived in AZ so finding the true one was as
easy as hitting a grocery store in town.  Thanks for posting this so
Dave will see it.  Maybe he has access to a source of the latter; if he
tries it, he will enjoy a teaspoon or so a day of it.

Hard enough to find the one, unless you live in an area that has a
market for such things.  Our travel plans tentatively take us thru
Hatch, NM in early Sept; Steve isn't sure if he will let me get a rista
(braid of chili peppers) there or not.  Since we'll still have some
distance to cover, he isn't sure if he wants their aroma in our new car.

That was fun to read!  I haven't seen gooseberries over here but have
seen lots of other strange looking/named stuff like rambutains, lychees,
etc. (G)
