That would cause a lot of heartbreak; some of my in-laws treat their
pot-plants as if they are children.

That could be quite uncomfortable for you.  (And I can imagine
Charlotte searching vainly for her undies...  "Dad, you didn't, did
you?!!!  Arrgh!  Dad, how could you!)   :)

That sort of time interval would certainly not encourage use of
public transport.  Here, usage improved dramatically when all main bus
routes were made "Go Zones", and between 6.30 am and 7.00 pm, buses
run at intervals of 15 minutes or less.  Before and after those times,
the frequency drops to 20 or 30 minutes.  This means that people
wanting to go into the city don't have to make all their arrangements
around specific buses, but can just walk down to the nearest bus stop
and know that one will come within the next few minutes.  At traffic
lights there are lanes reserved for buses, enabling them to get
through traffic faster.

Public transport there by underground trains, buses, trams and ferries
is very well organised - and particularly cheap for pensioners!  In
the streets there are more taxis than private cars, but I preferred
public transport and walking as a better way to get to know a city.

      Title: Cha Siu Rack Of Lamb - Hong Kong
 Categories: Chinese
      Yield: 4 Servings
 
      1    Rack of lamb, about 2 pounds
           Hot cooked rice

MMMMM--------------------------MARINADE-------------------------------
      1 tb Minced fresh rosemary
      1 tb Minced garlic
      1 ts Ground toasted Sichuan
           -peppercorns
      2 tb Dark soy sauce
      2 tb Regular soy sauce
      1 ts Salt
      1 tb Cooking oil

MMMMM---------------------------GLAZE--------------------------------
    1/3 c  Hoisin sauce
    1/3 c  Soy sauce3 tablespoons honey

MMMMM---------------------------SALSA--------------------------------
      1    Mango, peeled and diced
      2 tb Chopped red bell pepper
      2 tb Chopped onion
      1 tb Minced fresh mint leaves
      2 tb Dark soy sauce
      2 tb Regular soy sauce
      2 tb Honey
      2 tb Lemon juice
      1 tb Plum sauce
 
  Getting Ready Combine marinade ingredients in a bowl. Add lamb and
  turn to coat. Cover and refrigerate for 2 to 3 hours.
  
  Combine glaze ingredients in a bowl.
  
  Combine salsa ingredients in a bowl; cover and refrigerate until
  ready to serve.
  
  Cooking Preheat oven broiler with rack placed 4 to 5 inches from
  heating element. Place meat on a rack in a foil-lined baking pan.
  
  Broil lamb, meat side up, for 10 to 12 minutes. Turn, brush with
  glaze, and broil for 5 to 7 minutes. Turn meat again, brush with
  glaze, and broil for another 3 to 4 minutes.
  
  Serve lamb with rice and salsa.
