So our friend Eden finally got us to go to her
"find," Pasta Plus at the corner of 198 and 1
in a mall in the rte 1 island in Laurel. It's
very, shall we say, unprepossessing. On the
inside, it's actually okay, but from the outside
it looks just one step away from being boarded up.

At 5:30 almost all the tables were full, and by
the time we left around two hours later, the
place was jumping.

We started off with a pizza Michele, a 12" round
of crisp, thin dough topped with fresh tomatoes,
fresh mozzarella, and smoked ham - quite good and
worth the pills.

The bread that comes is a pretty mediocre sourdough,
which surprised me but made me extra glad to have
tried the pizza. If I'd just tasted the sourdough,
I might easily have walked out.

Eden and Carol both ordered conch over linguini -
Eden doesn't eat conch in white sauce, and Carol is
pretty suspicious of seafood in red sauce, so they
got one each. I am not sure which I preferred, as
the red sauce was very savory, but the white sauce
was mostly garlic, even more savory. The conch,
although frozen, was tender and good, and the pasta,
homemade daily, was quite toothsome. I had the daily
special roast, an extremely tender half-pound plus of
brined pork shoulder served over an enormous mound
of buttery, garlicky mashed potatoes with brown gravy
with lots of 1" bits of asparagus floating in it.
Quite good. The ladies both took back doggie bags in
anticipation of dessert - we had two split three
ways: Eden had a quite respectable tiramisu, and Carol
had the zabaglione over fresh berries. Of course I
dipped my little spoon into both desserts and found
them more than adequate - I ended up licking the bowl
that the zabaglione had come in, which apparently made
the owner smile when he saw it.

A liter of the house "burgundy" accompanied nicely - it
appeared to be a California red of unknown varietal
(certainly not much Pinot Noir, I'd have guessed mostly
Merlot with a bit of Cabernet S thrown in), but fairly
dry, not too much volatile acidity, and some fruit and
earthiness both.

The three of us got out for about a C-note counting
drinks, tax, and tip.
