Ärende: Day 2, Okinawa

We awoke to a drizzly day but we kinda expected that.  It's not supposed to
clear until the day we leave, if that.

Breakfast was the hotel and a buffet style thing with mixed food types from
mostly Japanese/Europe extractions.

The obligatory miso soup was especially well made and the bowls had lots of
oddiments (mostly green things).  Charlotte likes those so we added 2 bowls of
greenery to one and made her's that way.  I put rice at the bottom of mine to
make it more substantial.

The bacon was how i like it (limp and greasy still, sorry, I *like* it that
way!).  The eggs, overcooked to my tastes but otherwise nicely spiced with
bits of green onion and mushroom (Straw and shiitake).  They had a grain
cereal and lots of fresh fruit choices plus roe and toast points.

All you can eat for 1,000yen.  They also had pancakes and some 20 things I
havent mentioned here.  Don liked the kippers and had them with rice.

Off we wandered to the Kadena AFB exchange, which other than the aborted
fishing trip, was our other main theme to go there for.  We spent some 6 hours
just shopping around.  I'd been there 40-50 times but Don hasnt.

Lunch was my favorite hot dog stand there and we all had them.  Don hadnt had a
good hotdog at a stand in 5 years (the only one in Sasebo is terrible and
closing soon because they cant make rent.  Really terrible place, good
riddance to the chicken-franks-from-hell).  Smile, with no one driving, we had
a beer to go with them (no, relax, Charlotte had apple juice).

Charlotte is a size16 child.  I'll have to figure out what's after that but i
suspect size 5 adult?  That's all we have access to although i recall when I
was a kid, there was a 'Young Miss' size or something like that.  Found her
several outfits for school next year.  Got Don several things too (pants and
all that) but forgot to shop for a nice dress jacket.  Oh well, we didnt
remember that til we were in Sasebo again.

This and the camera part (got a digital at last) pretty much used up the day
other than a nice shrine on the way 'home'.

Dinner at the sushi place at the hotel.  OHMYGHOD.  Best sushi I've ever had
and some of the best sashimi as well.  I should have written it all down, but
only the first day got recorded.  Fresh perfect real wasabi and side plates of
various spiced fresh sea salts.  Charlotte had prawns and a vegetable medley.
I had mixed tempura and sushi with vegetable medley, Don ordered the sashimi
plate.  We put it all at the center and just went to town.  I'm not normally a
major sushi person but this stuff was incredibly good.

Evening was spent quietly except Don and i had another beer at the hotel club.
