It's a rolling thing. The first few are likely on time, but
inevitably something happens, and instead of having one hard
on the last one's heels, there's this little delay, and it
keeps increasing, bit by bit, so that the last train of the
day is likely to be a fair amount late. Which is good for the
tippling public, who are likely to be the prime constituency
of the later ones anyhow.

It's the flying foxes that I didn't understand (not that I
understand Under Milk Wood any better).

We've been buying Delicato Shiraz, which is a California brand:
it's about $15 for 3L and not an unpleasant wine, comparable to
say Jacob's Creek.

It was nice and sunny, and Carol was let go an hour or two early
on account of its being Good Friday, so we took the top down and
went to Big Lots, where one of the things that I was looking at
but that we didn't get were some tubular biscuitty things in
mocha hazelnut flavor. Instead we got such delights as Martin's
Jalapeno flavored kettle cooked potato chips, which were rather
well flavored (more a paprika taste than a Jalapeno taste, and
very salty, but good with alcoholic beverages) if a bit greasy.

Odd thing that happened yesterday to her as she returned from
work - of a sudden, a large rock came out of the sky onto the
hood (bonnet) of the Miata as she drove down Davidsonville Road
a few blocks from the house. If she'd been going just a hair
faster, it might have hit the windshield or herself. I maintain
that it was thrown (or lobbed), but she says it just came out
of the sky, perhaps the result of God having inadvertently hit
the Smite button on his computer keyboard.

GAENG PED BHED YANG (Thai Roast Duck Curry)
cat: Thai, main, poultry
servings: 2 to 3

1/2 Chinese roast duck; boned and sliced in
- bite-sized pieces or with bones, cut-up
2 c coconut milk. md consistency
1/2 c thick coconut milk
1 Tb Thai red curry
1/8 t coriander seeds; ground
1/8 t cumin powder
3 md ripened cherry tomatoes, quartered
1/2 c Thai eggplants, quartered; or regular eggplant, cut into sm chunks
2 sprigs young Thai peppercorns (Prik Tai Onn) (OPTIONAL)
1 t sliced red chilies
3 kaffir lime leaves
1/4 c Thai basil leaves
1 Tb (or to taste) fish sauce
1/2 t sugar

Cook the 1/2 c of thick coconut milk over low heat until a thin
layer of oil appear on the surface, stirring constantly. Add
curry paste, coriander seeds, and cumin powder; blend well.
Cook for 1 min over med heat. Add duck and cook for 1 min,
stirring. Add sugar, fish sauce, and the rest of the coconut
milk. Bring to a boil and add tomatoes, eggplants, and
peppercorns. Sprinkle sliced chilies, Kaffir lime leaves, and
basil. Bring to boil again and remove from heat. Serve with
cooked rice. Makes about 3 servings.
