========================
Hi Carol,

CS> That works! One of the reasons why i really have too many pots, is i
CS> keep adding some for that 'middle time' yet never seem to get rid of

RH> I don't have too many pots; when Rachel got married, I gave her the on
RH> Steve used in Korea. This will be the first place we've packed out of
RH> friends at first, then borrowed stuff here & there until our HHG arriv

CS> Not sure about here but a 90 day will help alot and we think we can
CS> get that. Having only Charlotte, I have no kids yet to give rhe
CS> flotsam away to as of yet!

You'll find somebody before you pack out, probably a newcomer. (G)

CS> remember my posts as we were filtering stuff for Japan, but we trimmed

RH> Yes, very well. (G) We only have 2 sets of dinnerware; the ironstone
RH> got shortly aftr geting married and a set of Corelle for 8 we got for

CS> I have the 2 nice sets, one I got, one Don got for me (not knowing yet
CS> I had the other) which set 8 each and oddly, match a bit. I can set
CS> 16 with them if i need to but both are in storage as I was not taking
CS> them here (neither are microwave compatible). I shipped no dishes
CS> other than an accidental plate or so because I pretty much knew with a
CS> 5 month time, I'd have to get something here. Have a decent
CS> corellware set for 4 and some stray bits donated by others as well as
CS> some neat piece bits of asian look I get here for 100 yen each.

Sounds like you're pretty well set up then. The 2 nice sets sound like
accidental happinstance that worked well.

CS> the kitchen stuff massively knowing we may need to have everything fit
CS> on my teacart or in the stand up china cabinet).

RH> And as I recall, you could have brought more than you did.

CS> *sigh* yes, considerably more. It will almost be like my private
CS> shopping mall 'for free' when I get back all I stored! There's lots
CS> of stuff in there that I didnt bring and have wanted since (some
CS> replaced, some not). Most of what is there that hasnt been replaced,
CS> is things you'd use in a big oven like my V shaped rack in a deep pan
CS> for slow roasting a rubbed pork shoulder. (I'll look as I probably
CS> just ran into a rule here where I have to post my old recipe if i
CS> still have it in MM). Lost here was my big pizza deep dish pan when
CS> it came by accident (should have been stored) and Don left it tucked
CS> by the old Cho apartment stove (that one was too small ti fit it
CS> inside the stove but any normal USA stove would have managed it and
CS> the one I have here in housing is normal sized).

Yes, we had that to some extent coming out of Germany. Here, Steve
didn't want to put anything in storage so we have cross country skis, a
snow shovel, winter clothes, etc. Still came over, over 1000 pounds
under the weight limit.

RH> I make my own Italian dressing--being married to a half Italian guy, h
RH> won't buy the store stuff. That, and the store stuff has all the
RH> chemicals and preservatives in it that I don't add. I just use vinega
RH> (varies feom cider to wine to balsamic), a bit of water, oil (usually
RH> evoo) and herbs & spices.

CS> I'm not very up on that type of cuisine but I do make a bread dipping
CS> of olive oil and balsamic vinigar with a little romano grated in. Had
CS> it at a restraunt once and much liked it. It sorta stuck with me.

We've had some of the dipping oils too--liked some better than others.

Catch you later,
Ruth
