Ärende: Home againis the Sailor
===============================
Hi carol,

CS> Well, I'm dancing between backlog and current. I skipped most of what
CS> came in yesterday til i catch up with it.

RH> I'm trying to read on a daily basis for now. I may have to skip the
RH> I may try to drop an e-mail off & on to someone.

CS> Ok. Me, still 800 messages behind. I got home early today and am
CS> still going through messages 'to me'.

Sounds about what I'll be doing in early October.

CS> the Datu Puti brand of same was 50% less sodium than the Kikkoman lite
CS> and tastes the same or a little better.

RH> I looked again & mine is Viet Namese.

CS> Ok, use it up then check the sodium if it lists it in a way you can
 CS> read it.

I gave it away already but will be sure to read the next bottle better.
Helps that Steve knows linguists in a multitude of languages. (G)

RH> but by far, I do quite well without it. I think that's why I like cor
RH> chips over potato chips now; the latter are usually too salty for my
RH> tastes but the former have the "just right" amount.

CS> I like the restraunt ones best. Not the doritos or fritos. Seems to
 CS> suit best.

Agreed, but if we buy, it's generally the "Mission" brand.

 CS> -- slight break, dinner--
CS> Made pork stock udon with spinach and oranges at the side.
 CS> -- end dinner--

Steve had a BK Whopper; I had the party. Hostess furnished commercial
sandwiches, veggies & dip and fruit. The rest of us did appetisers or
desserts so I made some chocolate chip cookies, using down the pantry
more.

CS> I think it has to do with a combination of flavor-pack-to-the-mouth
CS> and the 'fat feel' (though low fat, it doesnt feel or taste lowfat
 CS> when raw).

RH> Sort of on the lines of what I was thinking, plus the fact of eaating
RH> raw fish isn't as appealing to a lot of people as a juicy steak would
RH> be. We went to the "Steak Night" at the Nehelani (club) last night &

CS> No, just 'differnt' and really fixes the need up faster. It's every
CS> bit as appealing to those who like the idea. Given a chouice between
CS> sashimi and beef, I'll take the sashimi. I might go either way though
 CS> if both were cooked.

Cooked, a toss up; raw, niether.

RH> potato and a couple of small ears (about 3" long) of corn on the cob a
RH> salad bar. Carmelised onions & mushrooms topped the meat. I cut both
RH> my steak and potato in half right away--took half plus an ear of corn
RH> home. The salad plate was fairly small too.

CS> The corn would have gotten et up fast here!

Just not the same as the corn I had from my dad's garden; he doesn't
pick it until the water is on the stove.

CS> well and make them almost as pretty.

RH> Yes, I'm "prettying up" thngs too. A couple of weeks ago, I had sever
RH> colorful vegetables (something each orange and green, plus the dark re
RH> of the cranberry sauce for Steve) and he remarked on how colorful the
RH> plate was.

CS> I dont worry that much about it, but it's a nice touch.

I don't usually try but thatt time everything just came together nicely.

Catch you later,
