Yeah, maybe slowly. Seems her kids are apt to go with bigger bowls at flock
time <g>. They wont touch sweets at others places. Found out why. Thats
really so common in her house, there is no meal without them. Charlotte, the
non-sweets type, just politely refuses to eat there because all they have is
prepackaged cookies and doughnuts and stuff like that.

There are 5 really popular 'flock stops' (me obviously one of'em). While we
all vary a bit it's a given that a normal day will have 1 or 2 pancits/noodles
types, 2 seafood based 'somethings' (mostly with the seafood as a condiment to
a bigger dish filled with a starch or veggie mix), and a crockpot (not just
mine!). At least 1 will also have some sort of bread (usually me or Elise).
Beanpots at my place are popular and 3 of us 5 do 'impromptu cooking classes'
letting the kids mix up a batch of something.

Her kids are really into that last bit! I just got home (we didnt have to go
out afterall but I still had duty yesterday) and it's raining pretty hard from
the remnants of the typhoon sweeping past us (11W tropical storm now). They
are plotting up a dinner for their parents anniversary tomorrow so recruited a
few of us to make some little thing. The list of 'Mom wont eat this and Dad
wont eat that' is fairly extensive (and shows where the cooking from a box
comes from) but we all have some ideas that fit. Grin, probably doesnt sound
very exciting to get happy over such but this is a small town.

Here's what i know of so far. Elise is making them rye bread and dug out a
small set of gift type jelly/jams (those itty bitty ones with just 2-3 spoons
worth). Charlotte dug out an old easterbasket and the 'easter grass' and made
a few little orgami swans to nestle among the jelly/jam jars.

I'm adding a small rotisserie chicken with a mildly spicy rub based in black
pepper and Paprika with a touch of honey and butter brushed on first so the
spices stick well. In the top crock, I'll have a dish of potatoes with chives
and olive oil and a sliced green bell pepper.

Other offerings are a kiwi-ice (think Italian shaved ice and it's close),
buttered baby carrots, and a vegetable medley with almonds (stirfry). There
wil be other little 'bits' added in, but thats the basics I know of so far.

Now hush, whilst we plot behind their backs. They dont know about it yet but
the kids are all in kahoots with us on it <g>.

--small break--
Ok, another entry, fruit plate. Just a big bowl of a few of everything we can
gather. It now has 5 meekans (mandarin oranges), 3 fresh bannanas of different
types, that little fruit with spikes thats magenta purple (2 of them), some
huge purple grapes, and 2 asian pears. (We added the pears).

                                       xxcarol
