Remember when we were talking about boneless skinless chicken
breast, and Dave Drum said that they were "wasteful" because 
you weren't getting the skins and bones to use for other things?

Well, your point is why I said that for some people, boneless 
skinless chicken breasts AREN'T wasteful - the people who buy
them are buying the only part of the chicken that they want
and they don't have to throw anything away.

I am perfectly happy to point out the various uses and delights 
of bones and skins and organs and whatnot.  I enjoy them.  I
try to use every bit of what I buy for one thing or another,
and I like to share ideas and techniques with my goombas here
in the echo.  But I'm not going to call anyone stupid because
they don't cook the same way I do, and I save my evangelical
zeal for keeping tomatoes out of clam chowder. [g]

Yeah, I know what you mean, and the answer is: Sometimes.
You just have to ask yourself how much you're willing to
pay for the convenience of having someone else take out
the bones. 

I was at Stop & Shop this week, and they had whole chickens
for 99c a pound.  Decent price.  They also had BS chicken
breasts for 4.99 a pound.  Wow, quite a difference, huh?
I would never pay that much for chicken! But someone else
might because they might not like dark meat, or know what
to do with the bag of innards, or can't eat skin, or won't
have time to make soup from scratch, etc., so that 4.99
a pound for them makes sense.

And that's it, in a nutshell:  How much work are you willing
to do in your own kitchen, and how much is that work worth to
you?  Having "half a brain" shouldn't even enter into it. [g]
