Polar smoked mussels, 99c at Big Lots. Surprisingly okay,
not ashtray-licking-good, as some of the smoked shellfish
have been, but moderately heavily smoked with a sort of
generic sea taste coming out as well. Slightly grainy odd
texture. Better than most of the smoked oysters I've had
lately, and I'd buy them again.

Bumble Bee fancy whole baby clams. A bit below average,
with a bitter, cannish taste. Okay when augmented with
lots of garlic and olive oil, but I wouldn't be inclined to
seek out this product.

Nutcracker jumbo chipotle cashews - I don't know what they
were doing for $2.99 at the Big Lots. No chipotle flavor -
actually, a fair level of jalapeno taste and a little heat.
Any smokiness probably came from the famous torula yeast.
Quite salty. Cashews were jumbo, fresh, crisp, and good.

8th Continent light soymilk, chocolate flavor - this has 35%
fewer Calories than the leading soymilk, but it has 99% less
flavor. It might as well be called soywater. It was improved
somewhat by a large tot of dark rum (Gosling's, which I don't
care for otherwise).

Lowfat garlic and rosemary Wisecrackers - yes, they're crackers.
They seem okay - Carol likes them - but I didn't get to them
until they were stale.

Diet V-8 Splash raspberry lime - how they can get a carrot
juice-based drink to taste just like melted Kool-Aid, plus
give it a bitter aftertaste, I don't know. Give this a pass.

Land o' Lakes fat free half and half - besides being a
contradiction in terms, this product offers little flavor at
all: one can't really say it's bad-tasting, but it's certainly
a competitor in the unnaturalness sweepstakes. The ingredients
list: nonfat milk, corn syrup, cream(1), artificial color(2),
sodium citrate, dipotassium phosphate, mono and diglycerides(1),
carrageenan, vitamin A palmitate.

By the way, every evidence that I've found is that WhiteWave
(famous for Silk soymilk) manufactures and distributes all of
Land o' Lakes cream products and none of its butter products.
The LoL website doesn't acknowledge this.

Belizza acai mango sorbet - the acai berry (cedilla, acute
on the i) is the fruit of a palm tree and is claimed to
have twice the antioxidants of pomegranate and a flavor that
is a cross between blackberry and chocolate (or according to
one Website, like chocolate cherries). This sorbet combines
that taste with the acid of mango. I didn't find it very
interesting - with some thought I could detect flavors similar
to beach plum, blackberry, and red date. No mango to speak of,
though. I thought it a bit of a waste of time (perhaps not, if
it's as healthy as the literature claims) but an okay sweet
fix if that is desired. Carol disliked it. From Trader Joe's.
