 I'm way lucky in this! The damage to my immediate
 area must have been limited, probably just a line
 down. Many areas have poles down, and even a few
 power towers took damage, so those areas might
 wait until next weekend. I biked around the
 nearby neighborhood and noted a few streets
 had been restored here and there. It was funny
 to go down one street with generators roaring,
 then see house lights on in the next
 parallel street, then another parallel street
 with generators going still, and a few streets
 with power on one side but not the other.
 That neighborhood, called Willow Ridge, was
 featured on the Weather Channel, I heard from
 a homeowner who was told by a friend, by phone.

 In a way, I think I was also lucky to have been
 miserable for at least a day and a half, because
 now I know how happy I am to have my utilities
 back! I talked to 3 students and a post-doc at
 work today, and all had kept power the full
 time, so they don't even know how happy they
 are. One was griping because his TV cable was
 out! Hah! I appreciated that an Indian student,
 a girl, had contacted her friends by phone
 when she realized she had power and many others
 didn't, and ended up hosting 10 other students
 in her 1BR apartment for several days. She
 said they didn't get much sleep because with
 10 people (all girls? I don't know) they were
 all talking all the time! Sounds like a great
 mega-pajama party!

 They might have eaten this, it sounds like the
 type of lunches she brings...

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.05

      Title: Curried Potatoes and Peas (Aloo Matar Rasedaar)
 Categories: Side dish, Vegetarian, Indian, Vegan, Boat
      Yield: 4 Servings

      2 lb Small potatoes; halved
    1/4 ts Salt
  1 1/2 ts Turmeric
  1 1/2 ts Cumin powder
      2 pn Chili powder
      1 ts Cumin seed
      2 tb Olive oil
  1 3/4 c  Chopped tomatoes
      1 c  Frozen peas; thawed

  Parboil potatoes for 5 minutes in lightly salted water.  Drain and set
  potatoes aside.

  In a large skillet, saute turmeric, cumin powder, chili powder and
  cumin seed in olive oil.

  Add potatoes to skillet and stir to coat with spices.

  Add tomatoes and simmer until potatoes are tender, about 20 minutes.

  Stir in peas, cover and cook for 5 minutes.
