Correct. I used to play an online game called Legend of the
Red Dragon, because one of my sysop friends encouraged me to
do so, but that's about it.

So youse guys made me put on my research hat; I discovered that
Martin Gardner wrote some stories dealing with divinity issues;
in fact two of these, Oom and Thang (catchy monosyllabic names),
are in Asimov's collection 100 Great Science Fiction Short Short
Stories. Thang is a large being who plunders solar systems for
food; he finds a planet to eat (Gardner makes the mistake of
telegraphing this part of the story by making it clear that the
planet is ours, in the preachy and I think unnecessary first
paragraph), but the rest of the narrative is amusing.

 The riper planets were near the center and usually
 could be recognized by surface texture; but frequently
 Thang had to thump them with his middle finger. It was
 some time before he found a piece that suited him. He
 picked it up with his right hand and shook off most of
 the adhering salty moisture. Other fingers scaled away
 thin flakes of bluish ice that had caked on opposite
 sides. Finally he dried the ball completely by rubbing
 it on his chest. [More in another message in this packet.]

People, as we've discussed here numerous times, are too
far removed from the origins of their food. Might as well
eat soylent.

Fine. There are perfectly okay people who are queases or
members of the shrinkwrap set.

Mealworm fritters
cat: odd, snack
yield: 1 batch

mealworms
oil
lemon juice

Make a standard fritter batter. Soak mealworms in this batter.
Remove them with a slotted spoon and dump them in 370F oil.
Fry until they float. Sprinkle lemon juice over and serve.
