====================
Aloha Ruth!
->
-> -> the next few years. BTW, the paperwork for the handicap tag came
back
-> -> the same day and instead of being a one year temporary, they issued a
4
-> -> year one.
->
-> hn> Sounds like you're getting quality people, hope that continues!
->
-> I've been satisfied so far. I have to jump thru more hoops to get the
-> care I need vs how I did it in HI but, as long as I can do it, no
-> problems. Steve was talking to a doctor yesterday about the foot; this
-> one said that putting a plate in is very often the only way to go with
-> the kind of fracture I have. It should have been done after the CT scan
-> in May showed the new fracture--but that's 20/20 hindsight now.
->
Remember that it that doctors opinion and "very often" isn't "every time".
Hopefully though a good program will have you back up to dancing speed in
short order!

-> -> hn> Hmmmm one for sewing...one for 'puters, one for sleeping.....I miss
->
-> -> A guest room, separate family and living rooms, dining room and utility
->
->  hn> That's LOTS of vacuuming (grin)!
->
-> Yes, the upstairs is just about all carpeted but mostly wood flooring
-> downstairs. I'm trying to talk Steve into letting me get another
-> vaccuum so I can keep one on each level. The one I have now is 20 some
-> years old, built like a tank so it's heavy hauling up & down stairs. In
-> HI only the stairs were carpeted; the rest of the flooring was linoleum
-> so I used a broom more than the vaccuum.
->
Look on craigslist.org for one! You'd be amazed at how much GOOD stuff is
saved from the landfills by craigslist...let me check and see if there is one
for
the savannah area

http://savannah.craigslist.org/

Yep there is one! But it doesn't look very active...the one here in Seattle is
VERY active!

-> -> hn> If you are really interested I'll have him give you a call and
arrange
->
-> -> Hmmmmmmmm, have to think about that. It might work if you were to
->  hn> come
-> -> back east and visit him, then I could arrainge a get together. That way
-> -> Steve could see some of his work too. (G)
->
-> hn> Well that may happen, but it's not in the plans right now.
->
->
-> We'll be here thru spring of 09 so that gives you a bit of time to think
-> about it.
->
I'll probably be back there before then for sure!

-> -> -> We'd like to do the canyon again too. We spent a few hours there
in 95
->
-> -> hn> That's what Helicopters are for Ruth! (Grin)
->
-> -> Time and money. That was on the early end of our trip and we had to
->
-> hn> I think the Canyon will still be there!
->
-> Most likely. (G) We got in for free in 95 with the government shut down
-> and ended up helping a German tourist in one of the gift shops. He was
-> looking for a book about the canyon in German--much to his surprise, a
-> couple of German speaking Americans happened to be in the shop as well
-> and were able to assist him.
->
We spent a day and a half, but I'd like to spend more time and do some
trekking to some of the less popular areas of the park as well....photography
y'know (grin)

-> -> I'm not really sure if Rachel is working on the national certification
-> -> post masters planning. The school she teaches at is quite challenging
-> -> public schools years ago, like diagramming sentences. She's having fun
-> -> learning new (to her) things and relearning some things she barely
-> -> covered in teacher education.
->  hn> ->
-> hn> Doing them sequentially makes a whole lot more sense, and both
usually
-> hn> bring a pay raise when they are completed. Compound that with new
->  hn> curriculum
-> hn> she is teaching as well as learning, and most people would have a
-> hn> meltdown (grin)! Teaching is difficult enough on the good days!
->
-> But a good teacher can make it look so easy! Rachel hadn't really
-> thought too much about teaching until after she finished her AA degree.
-> Then, the City of Charleston College only had openings in the el ed dept
-> by the time she applied so she decided to give it a try--and now really
-> enjoys it. She had a good student teaching experience, even took over
-> the class for a week unsupervised (but with the schools OK) when the
-> teacher she was working under had a house fire.
->
Anne had to be talked into it! Her first degree was in Animal Laboratory
science (she worked in a major medical research facility), and after Amanda
was born she stayed home with her....then when Amanda went to school..so
did we (grin). Anne was so good that she became editor of the pta
newsletter and won two state wide awards...I told her if she was going to
spend that much time at school, she should be paid for it ! She of course
ignored me...but when teachers and even the principal told her she'd be a
good teacher, she decided to give it a try...she got her AA in early childhood
education from the local community college and went on to the local Lutheran
University for her bachelors in elementary special ed, and her masters in early

childhood special ed...she got hired right out of college and has become a
great teacher, so good that other teachers have waivered their childern out
of their home districts to have them in Anne's classes! I am amazed at how
well she does it...I could never do it! She has mentored two student teachers
and both of them got hired immediately as well. She's on a couple of advisory
boards for the program where she got her AA as well....What I'd like to see is
for her to get her phd and teach at the University where she got her
bachelors and masters..she'd be a great teacher for teachers....but she loves
being in the classroom with the kids too much at this point to consider giving
that up......it's a shame teachers are so underpaid!
chat with you soon
