Best way: Take two clean glass vessels and pour the wine between
them a couple times. Heck with da plastic.

They've had Vacuvins for years: looks as though this is the
same principle in decanters, plus there's a nice red gauge.
I always wondered, if you pump too much, will your bottle
(or decanter) implode?

What's this putting metal into your wine bit? I'd like to do
an experiment - take a bottle of cheap hooch, pour it into
(say) 6 glasses and "age" them say 0, 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10
years/seconds and see what the change is, if any. Not
enough to buy a set or ask anyone to do so on my account.
Nor enough to try this experiment on a bottle of nice wine.

Again, I'd like to try it forwards and frowards, just to see.
Can it replace the tannins in a dead old wine?

That's easy:

Cabernet Sauvignon - no chocolate
Merlot - no chocolate
Pinot Noir - no chocolate
Syrah - perhaps a little dark chocolate
Zinfandel - perhaps a little dark chocolate
Port - chocolate

I actually do like Cabernet and chocolate - but I'd prefer
Cabernet and no chocolate followed by chocolate and no Cabernet.

Manhattan
cat: booze
servings: 1

3/4 oz Martini & Rossi Red Vermouth
2 1/2 oz bourbon whiskey
1 dash bitters
1 maraschino cherry
1 twist orange peel

Combine vermouth, bourbon, and bitters with two or three ice cubes
in a mixing glass and stir gently. Place the cherry in a chilled
cocktail glass and strain the whiskey mixture into it. Rub the cut
edge of the orange peel over the rim of the glass and twist it
over the drink to release its oils - but don't drop it in.
