======================
-> -> trips to New Jersey were only 3-4 hours, longer trips we could sleep
->
-> RH> It as about that for us too, but often it was at night and as
little
-> RH> kids it was easier to get us to conk out laying down. Then the
->
-> We usually took off after school got out, in the morning after breakfast
-> or after lunch.
->
We always went down Fridays after Dad got home from work.

-> Probably about the time my folks stopped doing it too, about the time I
-> hit college. But, they still bought station wagons for a few years
-> beyond--when my youngest sister went to college, they had to put the
-> cartop carrier (a fair sized box my dad built) up to carry all her
-> stuff. Part of that was due to the fact she couldn't pack worth beans
-> and had a lot of useless space.

Me, I got my entire dorm room into the back of a Grand Marquis.
Admittedly, those things were boats, but that included a TV and a fridge.

-> RH> I'd hope! It's bad enough getting wet outside. Getting wet inside
is
->
-> It was not fun, believe me! Years later, the one summer when we camped
-> in Switzerland with friends, it was more fun even tho it rained most all
-> of the time. That was the trip when JOe spilled the spaghetti sauce all
-> over the stove and ground so we combined their pasta with our chili.
->
Cincinatti chilli, here we come!

-> RH> a bit much. OTOH, it reminds me of one time I was working retail
and
-> RH> the flat roof on the building decided it had had enough.... The
->  RH> dropped ceiling , well..., dropped. (G)
->
->
-> No fun; hope the store had good insurance.

I never asked. Only about half a dozen tiles actually came down, but it
was still enough to make a big mess.

-> RH> I've been sketching stuff for years, but never had a way to make
any
-> RH> of it come to life.
->
-> I did back in high school but nothing now like what I had then. I'm
-> still sketching tho. (G)
->
It'll probably stop when they close the lid and nail the sucker down....

-> RH> on future purchases, when you buy certain items. Those items
change
-> RH> from week to week. It's Bingo when they pay out more in Extra
bucks
-> RH> than you spent in cash for the products.
->
-> No, we've not been to the CVS store yet.

Rite Aid and Walgreens have rebate programs too, if you have those. I've
given up on the Walgreens ones due to their error rate.

-> RH> Yeaaaah! Hi ho! Hi Ho! I just looked up a pattern for a corn
bag
-> RH> neck wrap. Now if I could just remember when it came from ....
One
-> RH> of those nukerator heating pad things.
->
-> You can make them from dish towels (the terry type); cut it in half the
-> long way and make two. Selvedges from the short ends are good handle
-> length.
->
I usually make them out of heavy muslin remnants and then use washable
whatever to make a cover. I had to make several rice bags at one point,
and it just made sense.

-> Well, I'm semi used to being a tripod now--see my note to Hap for the
-> latest update. It's frustrating in that I have only one hand free but,
-> I'm glad I do have one hand free.
->
...and it beats the snot out of an electric wheelchair.

-> RH> Hmmm, boxes. Don't say boxes to someone cleaning the house out on
-> RH> Ebay. A good chunk of basement that used to be trains is now ...
->  RH> boxes.
->
-> When you make a move, you get lots of boxes. (G)

Big boxes. I found a long skinny one in a Hallmark department recently -
finally. A 1950s Steiff alligator turned up in a Sally Ann for all of 99
cents, but I couldn't list the thing for sale until I had a big honkin' box
to ship him in. The gator isn't that high/wide, but he's 29 inches LONG.

-> -> This is an outdoor cat--a nice fluffy one! She got more attention
from
-> -> us last night. (G)
->
-> RH> Sounds like my kind of kitty!
-> She seems pretty laid back.

Hello, here I am, feed me?

-> RH> Too bad you don't have one of those old Singer Featherweights.
->
-> I know; I've seen them different times but always when Steve has been in
-> the "What do you need ANOTHER sewing machine for?" mindsets. That's
-> what he gives me on the treadle too, and "where would you put it?".
-> He'll come round on that one eventually.

The treadle machine is a no-brainer. How else can you sew when the power's
out?
