  That did not occur to me, nor did the reaction of the glass jug to
  heat -- until it happened.

      Title: Pumpkin Black Bottom Brownie Squares
 Categories: Baked, Brownie
      Yield: 1 Servings
 
    1/2 c  Butter
    2/3 c  Granulated sugar PLUS
    1/2 c  Granulated sugar
           -keep divided separately
      2    Eggs
  1 1/2 c  All purpose flour
      1 ts Baking powder
    1/2 ts Baking soda
    1/4 ts Salt
    1/4 c  Unsweetened cocoa
      1 ts Vanilla
    3/4 c  Canned pumpkin pie filling
      1 ts Pumpkin pie spice
      1 c  Chopped nuts; optional
 
  Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  
  Cream butter, 2/3 cup sugar and the eggs in a large mixer bowl.
  Combine flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt; gradually add to
  creamed mixture. Pour half of the batter into another bowl and set
  aside.
  
  Combine the remaining 1/2 cup sugar and cocoa and add to the remaining
  half of batter. Blend in vanilla. Spoon into greased 8 inch square
  pan; spread evenly.
  
  To the half of batter previously set aside, add the pumpkin pie
  filling mix and spice. Spread on top of the chocolate mixure;
  sprinkle with nuts.
  
  Bake for 40 minutes or until brownie begins to pull away from edges of
  pan. Cool in pan.
  
  Makes 16 squares.
