Ärende: Flocks and Fun!
=======================
Like, whatelse did you expect? Half the kids here just got Mom or Dad back
home after we;ve all been gone quite a bit.

I took a list of whatever the neighbors needed with me (small items as I was a
bare larder in many ways here and expected to pack the trunk pretty full).
Came home with 177$ worth (pre-coupon, was 190$) for us and some flotsam of
40$ or so for others. Like, Elise was out of fabric softener and Jason needed
trash bags and so on.

When I got home, Charlotte gathered the flock-related kids to distribute the
goodies as well as help us get it all upstairs. The elevator was out (a rare
thing but happens and i live on the 5th floor so their help was much
appreciated). I told everyone what was on sale just now and Jason took Elise
on down with his van after pering in my chest freezer to see how much empty
space we had left. Meat is on a markdown with pork and beef rumps at very low
prices for here.

I now have no room in the fridge as it's packed with fruits and veggies. The
mushrooms were not good looking today but they did have decent looking 'oyster
mushrooms' so got some of them. The enoki were too much at 2.59$ a 8oz pack
which I think is the highest I've ever seen them here. I scored though with a
perfect Honeydew melon and some good looking avocados as well as late season
meekans (mandarin oranges).

The flock wants to know what I'm making next after they helped me unpack it all
and get it stowed away <g>. I noted right away the pork neckbones are in
serious contemplation and a few looked like they were positively plotting
their demise. I'm not sure how much choice in how to fix them I will have as
3 of the older ones scampered off with some yen and Charlotte to hit the local
market for kangkoon (commisary oddly was completely out). Oh, I twisted my
left ankle 3 days ago so am not up to the walk there but it's nothing serious,
just 'wonky' and I was well able to handle the commisary though glad now to be
able to sit down at the computer.

I think the crockpot will be with pork neck and kangkoon, graced with daikon
and 'squash' and spooned over fresh udon (noodles, posted recipe yesterday).

Small break--

Rice just arrived. I mentioned I forgot to get any so they just filled my
little rice keeper with a goodly 5 cups dry which should last us 2 days of
flock eating.

(Elise and Jason are still out shopping and so is Charlotte with the other
kids, rather peaceful here just now!).

Got a whole 'milk-fish', about 2.5 lbs or so. I normally dont get fish at the
commisary but since I cant walk to the Tonoo market just now, this will do.
It was pre-frozen so still is.

Veggies are: Cabbage, head type; Nappa; bok choy. Carrots, baby with tops
still on (the tops go in a soup then get dipped out). Eggplant, Japanese
small ones. Oh missed purple cabbage. Fresh brocoli, fresh cucumbers, yellow
onions, white potatoes (these are thin skinned bit otherwise look like Idahos
mostly). Acorn squash, butternut squash, and one other I have no name for but
looks like a kabocha except the skin color is red with gold bitty splotches.
Fresh green beans, whole.

Fruits are: Late meekans, red grapes, honeydew melon, avocado (fruit or
veggie? You decide!), mango, papaya. Apples were too costly this time so got
extra papayas which are cheaper and more 'braces friendly' for Charlotte just
now.

Left out above, red bell peppers (cheaper by far than green ones).

Meats: Got a good deal on pork and beef just now and even chicken was decent
so got some as my 'too much chicken' will not last forever. Snagged some of
Don's beloved crab.

Dairy: needed everything so got what they stock there which is a much poorer
selection that most of you have, but hey, Kraft isnt too terrible. Got also
some sour cream (fat free type happens to taste fine to me but they were out
so got regular) and Philly cream. Had coupons this time for this set (most of
the above wont though one of the chicken types did and the crab type did).

Canned things: Contadina tomato products and some canned soups. We had plenty
of canned items already so this was just what had run out. I also had in mind
a crock of chile at the time still so was getting the fixings.

Jarred things: More Jufran and both bannana sauce and the 'sweet-sour chicken
dip'. Oyster sauce. Sesame oil (good stuff, real flavor to this one, add a
dollop to a soup or green beans and you will forever be smitten).

Dried things: Packet of onion dip (came free with the coupon used), calamansi
powder jar. Beans, dried: split green pea; lima large; red beans small; navy
beans small; black eyes. No lentils in stock as normal for here.

Non-food: Dishwasher soap, laundry soap (FAB has best price), laundry softener
so I dont have that static cling feeling all day, sundry 'ladies items' and
some bars of soap.

Grin, Elise and jason just came back. Bye for now!
                                       xxcarol
