======================
Hi Carol,

RH> unpack. The downstairs is pretty well done, upstairs we have one room
RH> half full of boxes yet.

CS> I have one here too like that still. Books and VCR tapes that we dont
 CS> have shelves for.

Books are the main occupant of the boxes upstairs; there are a few other
odds and ends if various rooms from our housing in HI also. A couple of
the boxes have stuff we intended to find a new home for before leaving
but never did. We've started another box downstairs for similar items.
All our VCR tapes are shelved, along with the DVDs. We're slowly
replacing VCR tapes with DVDs of the same title in order to have room
for more but some tapes will never be replaced as there's no DVD copy.
Probably the replaced VCR tapes will go in the "find a new home for"
box, as well as the old air pop popcorn maker. Steve tried it last
night but had better success with doing some in the new wok over the
stove top. We agreed this morning that the old air popper can find a
new home and empty out a bit of space for something else.

CS> realized he'd left it so close, it was better to let me have fun doing
CS> it, which is *perfect* for me!

RH> I agree; I'd rather shop than have Steve do it all. I generally have
RH> idea of what I'll be cooking with what I buy, subject to revision of
RH> course as usual. Today the bigger crock pot is crocking away with
RH> chili; it's warmish right now but will be cooling down into the low

CS> My big crock is vacationing with Elise <g>. She brought over some rye
CS> flour a bit ago and the rest of a jar of molassis (sp?) and a baggie
CS> of fresh caraway seeds. Breadmaker churning away on a loaf of mixed
CS> white/rye with molasis and caraway seasoning.

Molasses. I had to get mo lasses when we moved here, having used up the
last of what I had in HI. (G) My bread maker has its first batch of
100% whole wheat bread in it now, that is, first since the end of July
in HI.

CS> I'll go shopping shortly. Got a fairly big list so will use the car

Sounds like us the middle of last month. We got some basics at the
Hunter commissary when we first moved into housing but spent several
hours and lots of dollars at the Fort Stewart commissary getting all
sorts of stock up stuff.

RH> 60s/upper 50s for daytime temps over the week end. I know, warm yet
RH> probably for you but we're still not used to it.

CS> Actually I've been hanging around the equator and other southerly
CS> parts for the last 2 months so that sounds chilly to me right now.
 CS> Same as Sasebo temps.

I know you'll have cold, wet rain & snow yet this winter; I don't know
what we will have but I hope it's not all the cold rain we had
yesterday. Today is clearer but cold yet. Time to haul out the rest of
the winter clothes. I picked up some Asian print fat quarters in HI
that I want to make (with solid color fabric) into a quilted jacket but
it'll probably wait until next year; I've other sewing to catch up on
first.

CS> dishwasher and Charlotte just took the trash out. I didnt know grapes
 CS> could mold like that....

RH> They can very easily.

CS> Not in my house normally! They get eaten too fast to ever worry about

Generally the case with us too, more so when the girls were home. Now
we buy less quantities of stuff like that and have to keep remembering
that just the 2 of us need to keep eating it before it goes bad.

RH> get some bacon, (G) french cut beans and onion; I've already got the
RH> vinegar. I've also got to pick up some other shelf staples I didn't ge
RH> on the last major commissary run.

CS> That will take some 2 months to fix up totally from my experience.
CS> Like, I'm about out of Jufran (Bannana sauce) right now and if i see
CS> some good 'Korean ribs' (our name for them here, a fatty boneless cut,
CS> not actually ribs but somewhat close and quite tasty made up right).

We keep discovering we need this or that. Made a meatloaf last week but
didn't have the usual worchestershire sauce I put in so did without.
Picked some up at the Hunter commissary but it was French's brand, not
the Lea & Perrins we like (shelf label but no bottles for that one).
Steve also grabbed some Tabasco sauce with jalapenos but I didn't get
pepper vinegar (forgot I needed it). Last time we had spinach, we used
balsamic vinegar instead of the pepper--good taste but not what we're
used to for greens.

RH> Want to send her this way for a week or so? Didn't think so; you just
RH> got home to see her.

CS> Hehe! I came home to find she's grown 3 inches while I was away!
CS> Kids' almost as tall as me now!

All new (hand me down) school clothes? Guess you're going to have to
put a birck on her head to keep her from growing so much. (G)
