======================
Hi Carol,

RH> the boxes have stuff we intended to find a new home for before leaving
RH> but never did. We've started another box downstairs for similar items.

CS> Oh I know those boxes <g>. Got a few of'em here too. We did remember

We will be rid of them before moving again. This move is our "sort thru
and decide if we really need certain items" one. We've put together a
fair amount of things to find new homes for--some older Tupperware,
various mugs, a good number (but not all) of my canning jars and freezer
boxes, etc, etc.

CS> to leave the Cho lights there when we left though. They have a unique
CS> fitting at the top and arent usable outside Japan. We left them in
 CS> the olkd Cho.

If it's like Germany, the next occupant will be happy. Over there, an
unfurnished apartment is exactly that--no light fixtures, appliances,
etc. We kept a couple of small transformers but all of our non
convertable 220 stuff stayed in Germany.

CS> flour a bit ago and the rest of a jar of molassis (sp?) and a baggie
CS> of fresh caraway seeds. Breadmaker churning away on a loaf of mixed

RH> Molasses. I had to get mo lasses when we moved here, having used up t
RH> last of what I had in HI. (G) My bread maker has its first batch of
RH> 100% whole wheat bread in it now, that is, first since the end of July

CS> I use it but rarely enough that it's one of the things I get when I
CS> move in, and may have some left of when I move out.

It's a staple with us. BTW, the bread turned out dumpy (not hardly
risen) as did the pizza dough I made last night. I'm going to get some
more flour, not quite as coarsly ground, and mix it in with this stuff
to hopefully cure the problem.

RH> I know you'll have cold, wet rain & snow yet this winter; I don't know
RH> what we will have but I hope it's not all the cold rain we had
RH> yesterday. Today is clearer but cold yet. Time to haul out the rest o

CS> It's chilly here but not the dreadful cold type yet. More like
 CS> 'overly crisp'.

It's that today but nights have gotten down to below freezing. Over the
week end day temps are supposed to (maybe) reach the lower 50s, if they
stretch upward hard enough.

RH> we buy less quantities of stuff like that and have to keep remembering
RH> that just the 2 of us need to keep eating it before it goes bad.

CS> With the flocks here, thats normally not a problem (wry grin). Oh
CS> don't get me wrong, I love the kids and enjoy the cookery. Thats why
 CS> we do it!

And I would too. But, not having any kids of our own with us, we don't
get "flocked".

CS> Like, I'm about out of Jufran (Bannana sauce) right now and if i see
CS> some good 'Korean ribs' (our name for them here, a fatty boneless cut,

RH> We keep discovering we need this or that. Made a meatloaf last week b
RH> didn't have the usual worchestershire sauce I put in so did without.
RH> Picked some up at the Hunter commissary but it was French's brand, not
RH> the Lea & Perrins we like (shelf label but no bottles for that one).

CS> The frenches stuff isnt nearly as good as the lea and perrins, agree.

Yes, but if it's your only choice.......

RH> balsamic vinegar instead of the pepper--good taste but not what we're
RH> used to for greens.

CS> I'll have to try the pepper sauce idea!

Something we discovered 30 some odd years ago when Steve moved to NC and
I visited him. I guess it's traditional in NC, maybe not as much in
other parts of the south but I do like pepper vinegar for greens. When
we moved out of the area, I had to buy the Trappy's (?) brand and keep
adding vinegar (heated, not quite to a boil) as the bottle got use. I
may see what peppers are available & if I have a jar with a shaker top
to make my own if decent peppers can be found.

CS> Hehe! I came home to find she's grown 3 inches while I was away!
CS> Kids' almost as tall as me now!

RH> All new (hand me down) school clothes? Guess you're going to have to
RH> put a birck on her head to keep her from growing so much. (G)

 CS> One brick comming up!

CS> Next week, when we go to Okinawa, we hit the big AF exchange and get
CS> her more pants. She's outgrowing them all again.

Good thing you have it available. In Germany, especially Berlin, I'd
hit up the local Woolworth's from time to time to round out our girls'
wardrobes. That, the thrift shop and sewing kept them from not quite
looking like every other kid in the school.

Catch you later,
