Thanks for taking one for the team. I presume it tastes like
mushy strange chemicals?

 -> Campbell's Scotch broth when a small child but have not
 -> had any for the last forty or forty-five years. Back in
 RH> Back when Campbell's made soups worth eating other than the tomato.

Now a gazillion years after championing the condensed soup,
they're making noncondensed soups ... my father and brother
like the clam chowder and the chicken and sausage gumbo.
I've tasted them both - not particularly good.

 RH> I think Pepperidge Farms makes something like that.  Tabachnik's
 RH> doesn't count as a luxury item.  It's frozen kosher soup.  Some of them
 RH> are pretty good and they go on sale cheap.

Some of them are better than Campbell's and may even be considered
good, but I had the Tabachnik creamed spinach, which was utterly
horrid, even for on sale.

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.05

      Title: Cheese Ball/Spread Using Dried Onions
 Categories: Appetizers, Cheese, Cold
      Yield: 1 recipe

           Dried onions
           Cream cheese
           Beef stock
           Nuts or poppy seeds
           Minced parsley

  On the last episode of "Re: mega-cooking", we heard Paul say to Kathy:

  PH> I been buyin the dried onions at Sam's for a while, they are

  great PH> in soups and spag. sauce, and great in my SPICY BEAN SOUP.
  I get PH> the "all you can carry for $4.00 size"

  You can also use 'em to make a great cheese ball/spread, Paul.  Just
  reconstitute a heaping teaspoon in hot water.  Meanwhile, cream a
  pound of cream cheese in your mixer, and stir in beef stock base to
  taste (careful, it's likely to be salty).  Add the reconstituted
  dried onions, and form the mixture into a ball (easiest to do if you
  spoon it on a square of plastic wrap, and use the wrap to help shape
  the ball.)

  Roll the ball in chopped pecans or walnuts, poppy seeds, or minced
  parsley, and refrigerate overnight.
