Well, we made it!  Only downside is my laptop (a Vaio) no longer will 
display when booted with WIN XP.  Havent figured that out yet so am online 
via SuSe 9.1  It's not a dual boot so cant yet access any filespace and 
have no *NIX OLR.   
 
Suse displays fine, I just lack tools with it.  It's obviously software. 
 
Ok, we left home at just before 8am.  I should have checked the train 
schedule in advance as we missed the 8:13 train by about 9 minutes.  Took 
the 9:13 Midori Express to Fukuoka.  Nice ride as always.  Much more comfy 
than a bus!  The seats swing around so we sat facing each other.  Little 
foot thing at the bottom releases the seat so you can swing it around. 
 
Takes 1 hr 45 mins to get to Fukuoka from Sasebo.  Hakata station has a 
good subway to the airport but we took a taxi as Don prefers that and its 
only slightly slower. 
 
We opted to eat at the airport.  Japan airports are worth going to just 
for the food.  At least, Fukuoka is and the Naha one in Okinawa. For the 
others, Naha is the name of the airport in Okinawa.  Okinawa is part of 
Japan though it hasn't always been so. 
 
Ate at 'China Cafe' again.  Don had a mixed seafood noodle-soup-stew bowl 
with a miso and mushroom dashi base.  Delicious and probably 20 different 
items in there.  Udon noodle type. 
 
I had a simpler one that looked from the picture like an egg-drop with 
noodle. It wasnt egg-drop but it was very good.  Chicken-miso based with 
what look like spagetti noodles, won-tons, and shrimp. Fairly mild, I 
added chile oil to it. 
 
Appetizer of egg-roll. Came with 3 pieces, one each.  I used chile oil on 
mine and Don used shoyu (quality soy sauce).  Charlotte ate her's plain. 
 
Charlotte had a mixed appetizer plate, with 2 'dumplings', 2 egg roll, and 
4 wontons gently fried to crusty.  She wasn't able to eat it all so we got 
her fried won-ton. 
 
Considerably more food than we could eat (you have to see the noodle bowl 
sizes to understand). 
 
I had a Kirin beer. 
 
Now we are in the hotel (Tokyo Dai-Itchi chain, Del Mar Okinawa) and about 
to go eat.  The cab ride from the Naha airport was not bad at all this 
time as we hit the traffic right.  Got in on the expressway and took about 
1 hour to get to the hotel. 
 
Chat later!  Gota go eat.  It's 6pm.
