The airlines are going toward less and less food service,
and less carry-on allowance. I imagine that the day will
come when both reach zero, and not only will one not be
fed even the usual swill on the long flights, but one will
not be able to take a picnic basket aboard. Which will
engender the phenomenon of people rushing off their flights
and jamming into the nasty fast food places that now sit
semi-derelict at the airline terminals.

That said, this last time, when Carol and I rode in Prole
class, the catering out of Siddley wasn't altogether bad.

I think my friends generally suffer a slight level of discomfort
in their financial situation that gives them just enough personal
unease to keep them from getting the big head. But they're not
the sort to go on the counterattack and overcompensate by being
hard-nosed humorless jerks. It appears to me that people above
a certain level of creature comfort seem to acquire the notion
that they deserve it more than those over whom they have stepped.

And quite low in sunlight that has been filtered by window glass.

Here's a dish that just cries out for that kind of rice:

     Title: Fiesta Chicken, Low Cal
Categories: Low-cal Chicken Main dish do not eat
  Servings:  6

      8 oz Can Tomato Sauce                  1/2 c  Orange juice
    1/2 c  Finely chopped Onion                2 T  Raisins
      2 T  Chopped Pimento                   1/2 t  Oregano, crushed
    1/2 t  Chili powder                        1 x  Clove Garlic, minced
     12 oz Chicken Breast Halves  *            2 t  Cornstarch
      1 T  Water                             1/4 c  Snipped Parsley
      3 c  Hot cooked Rice                          Hot Pepper Sauce

  *  12 oz boned skinless chicken breast halves, cut into 1" pieces

   In a large skillet combine tomato sauce, orange juice, onion, raisins,
  pimiento, oregano, chili pwder, garlic, and hot pepper sauce. Bring to
  boiling; reduce heat. Cover and simmer 5 minutes.
   Stir in chicken; return to boiling. Cover and simmer 12-15 minutes more
  or till chicken is tender and no longer pink.
   Meanwhile combine cornstarch and water. Stir into skillet. Cook and stir
  till thickened and bubbly. Cook and stir 2 minutes more.
   Toss parsley with rice. Serve chicken mixture over rice.
