=================
Hi Carol,

CS> Hehe I think maybe I hit back where I was sorta here.

RH> Crazy computers; they do exactly what they're supposed to when you hit
RH> key, regardless if it's the key you meant to hit or not. (G)

CS> True! Catching up the pointers still here.

I'm all caught up and trying to stay so. Power here is something else,
tho I did manage to get a loaf of bread made the other day without
interruption. (As I was typing the last sentance it blinked enough to
set off the UPS's warning beeper.)

CS> fridge), Rice-a-roni (now and again, yes, we like it. Don added
CS> mushrooms to it and used the canned mushroom water for the 'broth'
CS> using also the canned asparagus water for the rest needed).

RH> I tend to reuse the mushroom water too. (G) But, won't buy canned
RH> asparagus unless I'm really desparite--did once and hated it. I guess
RH> part of that comes from living in Germany for 6 years and enjoying the
RH> fresh white asparagus every spring.

CS> I've never had 'fresh' be available as cheap as canned. While i

I know, fresh is a bit "dear" most of the time. I did see white,
cheaper than the green a few weeks ago at the commissary but didn't get
any.

BTW, the commissary had chests of about a dozen different packages of
lebkuchen and a stollen for $70. before Christmas. We looked but didn't
want to pay that much. December 27 we had to get a few things before
they closed for the long week end; I checked and the chests were down to
$35., two left. Steve said something about "never know when you'll need
to furnish a Wise Man's chest" (I've used them different times in doing
Christmas program costuming.) and put it in the buggy. (G) Now we're
munching all kinds of German gingerbread. (G)

CS> appreciate it when I find it at a restraunt, Don and I both tend to
CS> the 'almost mushy canned taste' for that one as a special treat
CS> 'comfort food'. We encountered it firs that way and liked it as kids.

It's your choice. We'll go for the frozen from time to time but green
"comfort food" is probably spinach. (G)

CS> Yeah. I remember that. Kam Highway. H1 actually on part of it I

RH> No, they run pretty close together at some points tho. That way, if H
RH> is closed for an accident (as per usual), traffic can be rerouted onto
RH> the Kam, backing that up for miles on end. Really, no secondary back

CS> Yes. No longer a secton of one another. They were building a ramp
CS> when I left that had one over the other. Someplace along Pearl Harbor
CS> to Waikiki. Some was separate but some was the same when I was there.

There's a stretch in Pearl City/Aiea where H1 goes over the Kam for a
stetch but now they're pretty much separate. Depending on where we
wanted to go, we took one or the other.

RH> Army a career.

CS> Funny how that happens. One day you just realize how long it has been.
 CS> 'Howddathappen'?

Yes; at the end of this month, I will have been on Fido for 13 years
now. My baby is 26; my grandbaby is now 3.

CS> dancing on the stage for me.
RH> That's all you should remember at that stage of married life. (G)

CS> \sigh\ he was so cute!
RH> He WAS (?) so cute? Not any more?

CS> Ah he is, just a differnt sort of cute. Garners *lots* of looks from
CS> the local female population. I just remind him that looking is ok,
CS> but letting them touch isnt or he's gonna spend a week on the sofa
CS> <G>. (Ahem, you guys can tune out for a moment. Ruth, he's one of the
CS> men who went from 'cute' to incredibly sexy as he got older. You know
 CS> the type.)

(Grin) I don't know if anybody ever used th word "cute" for Steve or me
but he liked to tease our girls about their "cute little dimples". I
usually refer to him as my "tall, dark & handsome". He didn't have a
white horse but did have a red Pinto when we met (the one that was
totaled on our honeymoon).

CS> Yup. Wind sweeps down here from believe it or not, Siberia.

RH> I can believe it. Nothing but a barb wire fence either, and somebody
RH> left the gate open.

CS> Well, I lucked up. Almost no wind at all and not too bad. A Peacoat
CS> was enough to keep me fairly comfy. Probably 45F or so the whole time
CS> with no windchill to speak of.

That's good. Dry, as well?

RH> BTW, jst tok a pretty loaf of bread out of the machine. Nice and tall
RH> done on the short cycle with the bread yeast for whole grain breads an
RH> no power failures. Smells Soooooooooo good!

CS> Drats. Mine just flopped. Ended up with a doorstop here. Doesnt
CS> happen often but does sometimes to all of us.

Yes, I know the feeling. The fun of second guessing what went wrong. I
cubed up most of our "brick", oven dried them and ran them thru the
blender for crumbs so it wasn't wasted.

Catch you later,
Ruth
