Dinner at home:

Porterhouse steaks from Stop & Shop - sometimes the Royal
Aholds surprise one with good quality. These were nice
steaks, inch-and-half thick, 24 oz each or so. I asked for
mine grilled 2 min on a side, and it was pretty nice. The
tail end of the sirloin was done as much as I'd be comfortable
with; the filet and thicker part of the sirloin near the bone
pretty raw. I enjoyed this quite well, though I left the filet
for those who relish filet.

Home fries were made with leftovers from Bernie's (lots of
leftovers) with the help of a couple onions and a fair quantity
of garlic. Good, but I didn't eat many of them.

Dave also made beets with tops (or beet greens with bottoms) -
cooked with a little bacon, these were pretty nice.

Little Bear brand mini seedless watermelon was medium sweet
and good.

Putney Mountain cassis wine nv was rather thick, beginning
to go brown (have no idea how old it was), sweet and sour.
Big cassis flavors, of course, a touch of caramel, and some
evergreen needle notes. I thought it fairly palatable but
wondered why I get cassis notes from some Cabernets, but
those notes are different from the real thing.

Breyers Overload fried ice cream flavor ice cream - notes
of caramel and cinnamon; bits of fried tortilla, some crisp,
some soggy. I'd say nasty, but with reservations.

Mountain Dew Revolution, another Lynn tribute, was sort
of like a raspberry lemon rickey. The most notable
thing about this beverage is that it is blue.

I went to bed early (perhaps 10:30) as getting up at 4 was
in the cards. Flight to Philly at 5:30 and all that.

Heard car noises, including the ominous stopping in front of
the house noise, shortly after 3. Turned out not to be a
prowler: Lynn had got Voluntary Time Off (whatever that
means) and got a ride home early. By this time there was no
point going back to sleep, so I chatted with her; Dave got
up at 3:30ish and joined us.

We got to the airport by 4:30; there was already a line at
security. By the time I got halfway through, they opened
another line as if to spite me. Not a big deal, the proceedings
took about 10 minutes.

P.S. The little regional jets that US Air is replacing the
big planes with to save money are kind of cramped and
annoying. Try to avoid them, as they're designed for skinny
Brazilian waifs. Or, even worse, starving Canucks.

Why Boeing didn't jump into this arena I don't know, but
Embraer and Bombardier now have a lock on the midsize plane
market.
