Of course it is just possible that the tv people might have confused a
known bee pest with the CCS.  That sort of thing is not unknown.  (!)
A greatly enlarged, unhappy looking bee was shown with many tiny mites
crawling over it.

On Kangaroo Island, a small island the size of Singapore or Bali, near
Adelaide, there is the only strain of pure Italian bees left in the
world.  The apiarist there has a nice business in exporting queens to
deprived bee keepers all over the world, so no bee products of any kind
are allowed to be imported to the island.

Although some plants are fertilised by other insects, the bees are
crucially important for food crops.  The honey is just a sweetener. :)

      Title: NINNIKU HACHIMITSU-ZUKE / GARLIC IN HONEY
 Categories: Japanese, Asia-n, Preserves, Medical, Cold
      Yield: 1 Servings
 
    300 g  Garlic cloves
    200 g  Honey
           ;to 250g
 
  Separate each clove of garlic. Using the near part of the blade, make
  a vertical incision and peel the outer, hard skin. Trim off the root
  base and remove any filmy skin. Wash and pat dry completely.
  
  In a small pickling jar sterilised with boiling water, pack the garlic
  cloves.
  
  Pour over the honey. Wait until it reaches the bottom, and drizzle
  again to cover the garlic completely.
  
  Gently shake the jar. If the surface of honey subsides, add more
  honey to cover. Cover with the lid and let stand in a dark, cool
  place.
  
  An unexpectantly pleasant way to eat garlic. The honey in which the
  garlic cloves are pickled makes a great drink if thinned with hot or
  ice water.
  
  BEST TIME TO EAT: The syrup is ready in 2-3 days. Wait 1 month or
  more to eat the garlic cloves.
  
  Garlic has long been loved as a health source in Asia. It warms up the
  body, improves the blood circulation and weak respiratory and
  digestive systems. This honey version is also used for a cold remedy:
  when catching a cold with chills, take several spoonfuls of this
  honey thinned with hot water, before going to bed.
  
  Marinating time: At least 1 month
