Ärende: keeping cool
====================
Hi Hap,

-> an adult. I don't care for hot & muggy either; the AC is a big help
-> there. As for the gnats--the only way I like to see them is playing
-> baseball. Gnate the Gnat makes celebrity appearances but he's not whiney
-> and bothersome.

 hn> As a child, I accepted the weather as a where is as is situation.
 hn> Nothing I could do about it but find a way to enjoy life as any
 hn> kid does. As an adult I find I am less likely to enjoy being out
 hn> in the heat, and humidity as a kid I was able to ignore it, which
 hn> seems to be an ability I have lost with age (grin) somewhere!

About the same here. We didn't have many days above the mid to upper
80s in the summer with a fair amount of humidity. It didn't bother me
then but sure does now. In winter, we'd have stretches of -0 and below
weather that never bothered me either but sure would now. I guess we all
adapt to wherever we live but some places take more adapting to than
others.

-> hn> My hand sometimes tends to cramp up when I am
-> hn> doing very fine work (jewelry making and such) for
-> hn> any extended length of time, other than that I'm

-> I hear you on that one. Chopping lots of vegetables is another way to
-> put my hand out of commission fast. For some things, like stirring
-> pots, I can switch hands but I'd rather do my knife work all left handed
-> if possible.

 hn> So far chopping, stirring, and such don't affect my
 hn> hand...the fine movements involved in threading beads,
 hn> or working with extremely small tools however seems
 hn> to cramp up my left hand right below the thumb..and
 hn> BOY O BOY does that hurt!

About the same as holding a needle for sewing--I know the feeling well.
I've been cutting out a baby quilt that has about 240 small pieces (2
1/2" squares) and 54 somewhat larger (4 1/2" squares) ones the past few
days. Of course you can't just hack away so to get each square, you need
to make several cuts beyond the basics. Last couple of nights the hand
was really bummed out but I finished cutting today. I don't think I'll
do anything that needs lots of cutting for supper.

-> hn> And yes, we need to keep our minor
-> hn> league pitchers down there a little
-> hn> longer, they still need more experience
->  hn> and arm strengthening!

-> Sounds like most teams. Speaking of sports, Uga VI passed away Friday
-> night of congestive heart failure. Uga is the mascot of the University
-> of Georgia football team but lived in Savannah. The family that owned
-> him has owned all the previous Ugas and said that here is an heir
-> waiting to be introduced.

 hn> You know of course that UGA stands for University of Georgia at Athens
 hn> and yes there have been a lot of UGA's in the past, bulldogs are not
 hn> particularly long-lived.

This particular one was the 6th in the "official" line, dating back to
the latter part of the 50s. Figuring, each dog lived about 9 years from
the information in the paper the other day. A bull dog as designed by
Walt Disney no less is the official mascot of the 3rd Infantry Division,
(dog faced soldiers) based at Fort Stewart so we're really in bull dog
country.

-> hn> Today the temps will be up in the
->  hn> upper 80's and maybe the 90's
-> hn> (for sure the 90's at the ballpark),

-> That means lots of drinks will be sold (keep yourself hydrated) with the
-> potential for those that drink the alcoholic ones to get more than a bit

 hn> We've been playing the Toronto Blue Jays, and the Canadian
 hn> Fans come down in Droves to watch them when they play a

It must be interesting; I read about the activities in another of your
posts. Do the concession stands do a special on poutine whenever the
Jays are in town? I suspect, some enterprising cocessionaire could put
one together without much trouble (using mostly what's already on hand)
and endear himself to the Toronto fans.

 hn> west coast swing! One more game tonight and I am off
 hn> for the rest of the homestand to do photo work for the Tallships
 hn> tacoma festival www.taslhipstacoma.com . I expect to be plenty
 hn> busy and I'll need to keep hydrated...and know where the porta
 hn> potties are!

That sounds like it would be an interesting event to attend. I think I
read about a Navy ship coming to Savannah for the week end but don't
recall what type. We're going to stay away from downtown and the Fort
Stewart "zoos" this week end.

Catch you later,
