Ärende: Old recipes

Hi Carol,

CS> It just kicked off. I can see baby bannana peppers now. Yes,
CS> dehaydrator here still. I plan to use it later today to dry some
CS> stuff. I like dried onions for the texture in some dishes so often
CS> will dry one or two.

Success at last! The baby bananas should be ready for you to enjoy in
another week or so. I had thought you had a dehydrator; something in
the back of my mind was remembering it from before you went to Japan.
Our original one was in such sorry shape we got rid of it after coming
back to the main land but we replaced it last fall. The old one was
close to 30 years old so it was no loss.

 > I generally don't boil vegetables--most of the time they're steamed in
 > the microwave. Then, too, the soy sauce is something I don't use too

CS> I've still never really used the microwave for cooking. Reheating
CS> yes, real cooking not often.

It's really easy for doing vegetables while I'm working on something
else. It has a built in setting for frozen vegetables, another for hard
fresh and a 3rd for soft fresh.

CS> That would work just right!

Actually I've got 5 cups set aside. You can take the extra home with you
(if we don't cook it on Sunday) and play with it some more. (G)

 > CS> Oh sure and i wouldnt flinch at all with that price for alot of the
 > CS> seafoods I get. Just, not for lamb.

 > Your choice; I wouldn't pay that much for fish I wanted to eat raw.
 > Actually, I don't eat raw fish anyway as I don't want to give my
 > immune system any more challenges.

CS> Ah, I love my sashimi!

I know but I don't want to risk the possibility of more health issues
right now. Been buying nothing but vine ripened or cherry (grape)
tomatoes the past few weeks and I always rinse the salad greens, even
tho the box says they're pre rinsed so I don't have to.

 > My mom had one shoulder replaced 18 years ago but it didn't work out as
 > well as she'd hoped. It's actually worse than the other one so she's
 > really slowed down.

 CS> Sorry to hear that.

It's really affecting her quality of life too. She doesn't want to take
some of the drugs that may help her because of the fear of possible
addiction so lives in constant pain. I think the possible addiction
factor has been magnified all out of proportion in her mind and she
would get some relief if she did try them. But, can't tell her how to
run her life so..............

 > CS> one of the last 'new ones' just before we left.
 CS> >
 > Seems like ages ago? (G)

CS> Yes, and sometimes like only yesterday!

I know what you mean; I've been there, done that enough times.

Catch you later,
Ruth
