Hi Sean!

I can help with things like Zone pages,etc.. that was fun (laugh). It does
sound like a great job and I'm sure Carol could do it once she had the needed
info :)

It sure does :) This kind of thing happens more often than not - with all
OS's.. Under linux, Bind (DNS protocol for *nix) was affected as well of
course... a 'weakness in the DNS protocol related to insufficient randomness of
DNS transaction IDs and query source ports' was reported. 'That could affect
the cache of a recursive resolver and spoof DNS traffic, which could redirect
web or mail traffic to "malicious sites"' as the report stated.

(translation: someone figured out the next value in the sequence.. and once
they figured that out, they could take you anywhere they want you to go)

Under *nix, like WU-Ftp, there generally so many bugs you need a dedicated
staff to keep up with it. That's why I use my ISP's DNS server, and don't run
bind here. My son is crazy.. he always runs his own dns server.. :) He is handy
to have around though (vbg). Amazing that I taught the kid on a very early
version of Patrick Volkering's slackware.. then he just kind of took off on his
own (g). Main point is he could probably give some good information regarding
it. Trouble is he's got manic deperssion and because of meds his hours are not
real regular.. but he's as brilliant as his mom (lol). Seriously, I'm sure he'd
be happy to talk about all of it with Carol and could maybe even help in email.
Ah, one of us or the other could help (g).

>I don't do much with it

When it's buggy, it can be deadly.. (been there, 'crashed' that <bg>) I'm not
running bind ATM.. I had fun playing with it, then decided it was one of those
things that I didn't have to run here myself (g). It's enough with php and the
mail server, web server, etc.. (bg). Keeping those going can be a challenge at
times.. the mail server here was just down for two days because there was
another security flaw that forced an update of that server.. unfortunately, I
should have looked at this one config file a little more closely (g).. one
line in it kept the email server down for about a day or so.. painful, but live
and learn (grin).

Yes, good idea. I can understand that. You can look at the config files though
and see what's going on.. just don't bring things into a r/w (read/write)
situation. Go for something that will just let you list the info (not sure how
the windows implemetations is adapted). That's why I like linux.. everything is
basically character-based when you get down to the lowest level... it's rare
that you have to deal with a "wizard" type situation.

Oh boy :) Some good people there. And did anyone mention the lawsuit the civil
liberties union brought against GWB for his Fisa nonsense? in direct violation
of constitutional law? (sorry, couldn't resist, let's not go there (grin))

That sounds great.. I do remember having something like that in Louisville..

Tonight Ron and I went to a Chinese Restaurant that I've been wanting to
visit.. Morning Star is the name.. Incredibly delicious duck served in garlic
sauce (I am nuts about chinese duck (g))... we over-ordered though, thinking
the restaurant would serve normal single portions of each item.. they were NOT
single portions even though they were priced that way (I thought (g)). For
example I ordered tomato and tofu Egg Drop soup.. and what arrived was a huge
bowl (with two serving cups) that contained about 4-6 servings of soup (which
was full of tofu, and chunks of tomato and egg). And it was incredibly good. I
also ordered the Duck in garlic sauce, which arrived on a large platter..
enough for 3-4 easily.. Ron ordered pot stickers (about 6 or 8 delicious light
pot stickers with soy and garlic sauce), Beef Mei Fun with peppersalt
(vegetable and noodles with beef) again, a dish so full we barely touched it
and delicately flavored.. and Chinese vegetables with Mushrooms and sauce
(AGAIN huge plate (grin) and incredibly good sauce.. I think it was a garlic
sauce but by then everything was so good, and we were so full, I don't think we
could tell you the seasonings used :) Needless to say we have in our 'fride
right now enough leftovers to last for probably two-three days. I sure made an
effort to let the waitress and waiter we saw how good everything was, though we
were not finishing it there :) I always feel guilty somehow (grin).

Not sure if others attending the picnic would be interested in going there, but
I'd highly recommend it :)

Take care,
Janis
