Well, I guess you could say so...but the pioneers were
way back...my family has been here since the early
 1600's, both sides. My father was raised a preacher's
kid...but I think he got a lot of his hunting attitudes 
from my Mother's side of the family. My Maternal 
Grandfather was a real character; worked on 
Buffalo Bill's travelling show as a member of the 
train crew as a boy, gunsmith, stone mason,
distiller, farmer, dairy farmer, cotton grower,
and hunter. My father's aversion to religion
comes from my Paternal Grandfather...I think
his love of guns (he was a gunsmith as well), and
hunting came from my Maternal grandfather and 
all my uncles.

When we lived in Europe (early 60's) there were 
hunting and fishing "camps" in both France and 
Germany. We'd go pheasant hunting and trout 
fishing and we certainly kept what we "harvested".
I also took up trap and skeet in France...LOVED
it, I was a crack shot as a kid...don't know if
my eyes are as good now as they were then.
