I've gotten used to BWI, and on weekdays before 9 pm it's still
the best bet.

National is pretty good for anyplace on the Metro lines, so
I use it fairly frequently despite the fares being higher (often
but not always by 50-100 percent than the BWI fares; being cheap
and not yet solid financially, I value the public trans differential
plus the value of my time as about $50, so I do shop carefully).

Dulles - if I'm seeing my b-i-l or my friends the Fishers, it's a
no-brainer. It takes about as long to get to Bethesda from there
as from BWI, though, and the cost is similar. The problem is that
to get to the Metro one has to either pay extra to take the Flyer
to East Falls or take the public bus that fights its way through
traffic.

The Deitsch Eck is in Lenhartsville - my reaction to looking at
the menu wasn't negative as yours was. Lebanon has tons of places;
I haven't done any research on the subject, but it is the birthplace
of Lebanon bologna after all.

In which case it would be futile to try for Penn Dutch food, as
it is pretty heavy going. Maybe we should try Arcaro and Gennell?

      Title: Watermelon Ice

  Take the heart of a large, sweet, ripe melon, put into a chopping tray and
  chop rather fine, then add to it 1 cup powdered sugar, and turn into
  container of ice cream freezer.  Pack freezer with ice and salt.  Turn
  crank for 5 minutes or Until the melon is icy cold and in the condition of
  soft snow. Serve in glasses.
