I used to love using it for stews and things.. I make most Italian sauces on
the stove top, because sometimes it does make a difference with the type of pot
you use... to me at least <grin>.  I really like using a very large cast-iron
pot (it's like a dutch oven type) for meat sauces, for example. Stainless seems
to work best for Clam sauce and linguine.

I guess your snow is sticking around because of the lows.. Our snow is gone
pretty much.. we had some rain that got to that <grin>

Yes, hope so :)  Ron will probably get it installed tonight and I'll be able to
test it out.

Maybe after a bit, you'll be able to do some remodeling.. we always go the
cheap way when we do jobs like this (husband labor <bg>)..

I don't think we've ever hired anyone to anything, but for this we'll probably
get someone to come in to do the lighting and venting.. Ron's good at doing
carpentry things (his uncle was a carpenter), and I've got a good eye for
bargins <g>.

The Center-island is mainly comprised of cabinets we found at Home Depot.. Ron
was going to build them himself, but we found these cabinets marked down to
less than half price..  Ron will still build the frame for them all around. It
was cheaper to buy these cupboards than to build them :)  Same with the
counter-tops.. we found marble at Lowes a while back on sale, and grabbed it
<g>.   We've already bought the sink, so that's waiting to go in after we get
the stove in.. then it's just moving the dishwasher to the island and getting
the drains in, etc.

Takes a little longer doing it this way, but worth it.. I can spend the $$ on
the lighting and Kitchen venting, which Ron would rather not have to take care
of :)
