Environmental Protection Agency and their air pollution standards. I am waiting
for them to set standards for home lawn mowers - those tiny air-cooled engines
that power lawn maintenance machines are some of the worst polluters in the
current mechanical world.

You are right - the rasp of a big banger gearing down for a corner is probably
one the most evocative sounds in my memory bank. Nothing else in the world
quite like it. You are also right that my knees creak and pop and argue at the
slightest hint of abuse. OTOH, a couple of companies make cycle lift devices
which allow one to get at the places one needs to address whilst sitting on a
low, roll-around stool/seat.

The best thing that the Enfield people have done is to add the electric starter
to their machine. No more sore ankles, knees, or bruised arches on the bottom
of the foot from the "kick-back" that often occurs as a big single is kick
started.

Sometimes the best thing about the "good old days" is that they are gone.  Bv)=

      Title: Ice Cream Sundae Sandwiches
 Categories: Five, I scream, Desserts
      Yield: 8 servings
 
      1 c  Shredded coconut
      2 oz Nut topping; available on
           - baking aisle
      1 c  Mini chocolate chips
      8    Scoops fudge swirl ice
           - cream
     16    Chocolate nut cookies; 3"
           - diameter
 
  Mix coconut, nuts and mini chips in a shallow dish. Scoop
  balls of ice cream onto 8 cookies. Top with a second cookie
  each and gently press down until ice cream comes to the
  edges of the cookies. Make sandwiches 1 1/2 to 2 inches
  thick. Roll ice cream in coconut, nut and chip topping and
  serve.
