Well you have the Sydney funnelweb spider,
 the red back spider, blue ring octopii, 
box jellies, cone snails, that big honkin 
nasty frog, bull ants, and of course the snakes
 and scorpions and such! Of course as you so
correctly point out, most will avoid 
you as much as you avoid them if
given the choice. Still it might be well
worth the risk to see the southern sky lit
up like that! (grin)
