Some acids some of the time. Haven't figured it out quite,
but I think there's something in organic fruit acids that
may bother me, while pH itself may not be a factor at all.

It may be a real allergy coming on, with the tongue, sides of
the mouth, and throat becoming prickly. And canker sore danger.

Pity about her: she was moderately cute but became quite a balloon
later on owing to increasingly slow motion exacerbated by the
accident. And then things fell apart, and she died of interactions
of various medications that were used to treat various things.

It wasn't exactly a case of the wages of sin is death, but there
was that aspect.

Poulet a la mode de Beaune
cat: main
servings: 4

1 chicken, 3 lb, cut up
1/2 lemon
salt, pepper, nutmeg
fat for shallow frying (oil and butter or schmaltz)
1 pt heavy cream, heated to boiling
12 lg mushroom caps, rinsed
3 Tb butter (to 4 Tb)
1/2 c brandy

Preheat oven to 350.

Rub chicken parts with lemon. Dry well. Season with salt, pepper,
and nutmeg. Fry in oil until golden brown on all sides.

Arrange chicken in a casserole and pour cream over. Bake until tender.
Remove casserole from oven and turn oven to broil.

Distribute butter among mushroom caps, packing cavities well. Put
these butter side up on the chicken in the casserole. Put under
the broiler until mushrooms are done, about 5 min.

Add brandy to casserole. Stir all together (submerging mushrooms).
Serve hot.
