Ärende: Trip from Dave's 709

Took Dave to our old haunt Sarape's, which is pretty much the same
as it used to be, except that it has a beer and wine license now,
so we didn't have to sprint across US 6 to the liquor store.

He ordered tacos de barbacoa, plain but delicious soft tacos
filled with braised beef lips. I got the more elaborate platillo
oaxaqueno, a couple ounces of very dry, very gamy carne seca and
a decent serving of puerco asado, sided with good black beans,
serviceable Mexican rice, and a half a small ripe avocado. A
bunch of food, and Dave was the recipient of some rice and beans.

Carta Blanca, a beer I used to drink in high school, was modestly
hopped, quite clean and quenching.

That night: burgers (done medium on up, as Dave doesn't quite
trust supermarket ground beef to be free of pathogens); kielbasa
patties for Lynn; Rainier cherries (got for $1/lb at Stop & Shop's
markdown bin; these were actually quite good, some of the more
bruised and unsightly ones being extremely sweet); and seedless
small watermelon, sugar baby or the equivalent (quite nice).

Tastes of Edy's Slow Churned raspberry chip royale - not interesting
in any way except the irregular chocolate chips were pretty decent -
and Breyer's triple chocolate: white, light, and dark bands, the
first being pretty wimpy and tasteless, the second too sweet but
decently chocolated, and the third quite bittersweet and strong
tasting.

Dave got me to Bradley in the 10:30 range, and after a very
quick security check I had some time to get connected and
rapidly disconnected from the airport's free wireless.

The flight was quick and painless; my seat had great
legroom, as there was no 1A on this aircraft. We got in a
few shakes early.

I decided to standby for the earlier flight, as there was
plenty of time. Went to the gate, where a ramp worker was
doing something at the computer. He seemed bright and well
informed, and in fact he helped a bunch of passengers find
themselves or at least their flights, politely and
efficiently. I approached him, and he said that a real
gate agent would be by shortly, but it appeared that there
would be space on the plane.

At length, someone showed up and immediately issued me
seat 12F, which is in the way wayback of this aircraft.
Boarded up and found that in fact the plane was quite
heavily booked, with just two exit row seats empty (I guess
if I'd asked I could have had one of these). My seatmate
was a pleasant if rather large woman who had a US Air
ticket from Philly to Baltimore and then to Cleveland,
this latter flight on Continental. By this routing she
managed to save over a hundred bucks over the US Air
nonstop. We had a pleasant chat, mostly about food.

Landed on time.
