As good a time for me to take a powder
as any! It's a shame too, because we really 
do have the talent to do a lot better! Betancourt has 
amazing speed and range and can throw a rocket 
from just about any contorted position you can imagine...
yet he's often playing in such a lackadasical fashion 
that he picks up errors as often as he picks up
line drives. Some of our best hitters are barely
able to connect with an apple pie pitch (right 
down the pipe)! I'm bemused as to what the 
cure may be, but It's gonna be a bad tasting 
medicine I'm sure!

Who knows? I sure don't ! The price here locally
has been dropping once you get away from the 
coast and hwy 1. We were in Santa Rosa and 
Rhonert Park today and saw a couple of places
where the gas was $4.03/gal.

I made a vegetarian chili for the folks in
Amanda's grad student dorm tonight. I'm
not fond of veggie chili unless it contains 
my favorite vegie (pork). But since most 
of the dorm members (with the exception
of a Thai grad student) are vegetarians 
(thank goodness no vegans!!!) that's what
I needed to make. It came out really good!
considering I had to use veggie broth and 
4 beans (Kidney, black, pinto, and garbanzo)
and mushrooms for the "meat"...Used lots 
of garlic and chili powder, heavy on the cumin
and some salsa fresca as well. I also had 
chili tepin on hand for my own use!  I
made a huge pot and froze the leftovcers for 
Amanda to use at a future date!
