Ärende: meals for how many?

NB>>> of us go to a buffet, Richard can eat enough to make it
 NB>>> cost-effective for both of us. ;)
RH>> Steve can pack away a fair amount--more than you would think to look
 RH>> at him. (G)
 NB>> Same with Richard. ;)

RH> He gets his money's worth?

Absolutely...! These skinny guys have hollow legs, I guess... ;) He's
slowed down some now that we aren't quite so young any more, but not so
much as most would notice. He eats less at home now than he used to
(probably to compensate for the slower metabolism), but still can pack
it away like he used to other places... (G)

NB>> No twins in ours. 2 years between me and next sister, then 1 1/2 each
NB>> for the next two gaps, then again 2 years between #4 and #5. Mommy
NB>> thought she would see what her "natural spacing" was... it turned out
NB>> to be 18 months. She decided that was too close... ;)

 RH> That's a bit close for me.  Our girls are 20 months & 2 weeks apart;
RH> it was rough for me the first couple years but then it smoothed out.

We ended up only having the one child, by circumstance, not by choice,
so I didn't really have the experience of little ones too close...
except for vicariously... ;/ One sister had her first 4, each 18
months apart or so, then more spread out later. Another was usually
just about 2 years apart, although it occasionally spread to 30 months
or so. My sister-in-law's first two were only 15 months apart.. she DID
find that difficult. They finally had a third a number of years later.

Growing up as the oldest of a bunch close together, I just had to grow
up fast and help with the youngers... Only later did I really find out
from Mommy how hard it had been on her to have 5 kids in 7 years (it was
6 in 10 years, when the next one arrived, still pretty close). At the
time, I (and #3 particularly also) was just pulling my share of the
load... and probably thinking that that was perfectly normal.. :)
Probably why I learned to cook at least basic stuff quite young. :)

NB>>> "it's not messy, exactly, we just didn't have time to fuss"
 NB>>> when company was expected
 RH>> So, you are a good pilot--pile it here & there? (G)
 NB>> Yup, that too... (G)

RH> Hard to do for kitchen stuff tho. Dig thru the spices to get to the
RH> pasta & then find the pot to cook it buried under the fresh
 RH> veggie,etc. (G)

Ah, but the constant rearranging of piles makes one an expert pilot...
as well as perhaps a certain amount of sorting happening in the process,
so that the veggie pile isn't still mixed with the Pots pile.... (G)
Besides, that's what all those Tupperware and Rubbermaid, etc organizers
are for... to keep the piles from getting totally out of hand... ;)
