Atlantic Canada has the same species and availability generally as
New England.

I tried fresh water clams once; they're not very exciting.... tough
and tasteless. Some one once said that the further north you go and
the colder the water, the better they get. I knew a guy once who
hyped that myth up, borrowed money to fly to Great Bear Lake and
brought back a couple hundred pounds of them which he then flogged
at local restaurants. He had NO repeat customers and went out of
business in a week.

Their export ale is acceptable, their Canadian lager is underhopped
and "watery". Their golden ale doesn't get promoted here at all; I'm
not even sure they make it any more. They are too busy making Coors
Light. Miller Genuine Draft (they have the Miller brand in Canada)
is certainly drinkable.

Well 50 ale is OK but really not all that different from Molson's
Export no matter what she claims. Blue is no better than Canadian.
There is (or at least was) a John Labatt Special Black Label strong
beer (7.5%) which was very good but only sold in Quebec, not
nationally. Again they are too busy profitablely making Bud Light to
make good beer. Their best beer today is probably Kokanee, made in
Creston B.C. and only marketed in western Canada.

That is the way we are going.

Ice cold light bodied lagers do have there place in the grand scheme
of things.

I would never carry a cast iron pan backpacking. But I do if
boating, canoeing or car camping.

Me. But there is always bannock on a stick, fried bread, dumplings,
pancakes and bread baked in a tin can in the embers.
