I agree with you.  There are other examples of name clash that I am
aware of.  There are several in candy bars.  The UK Mars bar is the
similar to the US Milky way.  The UK Milky way is the similar to the Three
Musketeers.  And there are other conflicts.  I recall being told years
ago that the reason was a family split/feud between the US and UK
makers.  I also believe that that is old history and the relevant
companies have merged now -- but I'm not sure of that.


MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.05
 
      Title: Jo's Fresh Apple Cake
 Categories: Cake, Fruit, Jar cake
      Yield: 1 servings
 
      2 c  GRANULATED SUGAR
  1 1/2 c  OIL
      4    EGGS
      3 c  ALL-PURPOSE FLOUR
      1 ts BAKING SODA
      1 ts SALT
      1 ts VANILLA
      3 c  GRANNY SMITH APPLES, finely
           -chopped
      1 c  PECANS or WALNUTS, chopped
      1 c  BAKER'S COCONUT

MMMMM---------------------------GLAZE--------------------------------
  1 1/2 c  LIGHT BROWN SUGAR
      2 tb KARO LIGHT CORN SYRUP
    1/2 c  NUTS (optional--I omit)
      1    Stick BUTTER
      3 ts MILK
 
  Mix together all ingredients by hand or use your mixer. Bake
  in a 10-inch tube pan or loaf pan(s)--not sure how many, I
  use the tube pan.
  
  Bake at 325-degrees for one hour and twenty minutes.
  
  While the cake is baking, make the glaze.
  Glaze directions:
  Bring to a boil; cook for approximately 5 minutes, or until
  the mixture thickens slightly. Don't over-cook it or it'll
  taste bitter. I usually cook, taste, cook, etc., until it
  tastes like caramel.
  
  Pour over the cake the minute you take it from the oven.
  
  Cool completely before serving.
  
  I've baked this cake in canning jars too. If you're interested
  
  I'll upload my directions for doing this. I don't pour on the
  glaze when I bake the cakes in jars, I pour it on just before
  serving. Living in earthquake country, I keep lots of cakes
  on hand--they keep for about 8 months (the longest I've kept
  them).
