Hi Janis,

>> she's had her hands full with the three of them :) The baby's
>> birthday is coming in April.. hmm.. guess that will be 'terrible twos'

JK> > I kid Deborah she started at 18 months and is still in them at
 JK> times.

JK> > The fun she has with her nephew............

 JK> I bet :)

We saw them together just after Christmas; couple of peas in a pod. (G)

>> <grin> he's such a sweety though, I can't imagine that really :)

 JK> > But you don't have him 24/7/365.

 JK> Umm.. "thank goodness"? <laugh>.. Yep, I admit it, I couldn't take
JK> it.. but you know how that goes.. the kids are "perfect" when they
JK> come here to stay.. no trouble at all .. and then they take it all out
JK> on their mom and dad when they get home :)

I've heard that. We've never had Robert visit but have babysat a few
times when we've visited him. Now that he's older, a playground (if the
weather is decent) is a good way for him to burn off energy.

JK> > Most kids do at that age. Do you order stuff from Nancy's Notions?

JK> No, I do get some online supplies from allthreads.com, and sometimes
JK> from robison-anton though I've got a wall full of various coats and
JK> clark embroidery thread right now .. there was a big sale <grin> I'm
JK> trying to remember the name of the site where I found the
JK> pattern-designing curved ruler.. they had so many neat toys- Hope I
 JK> book marked it :)

OK, I've ordered from Nancy now for over 20 years. She's my favorite
but I do get from other sources as well.

>> I would love to see any kind of craftsman's shop overseas <smile>..
>> maybe someday <grin>

 JK> > You would enjoy Hessian Park; it's a 15th-16th century recreation
JK> town > near Frankfurt. It has all sorts of craftspeople of the era
JK> displaying > their trades and even lets you (mostly kids) try some for
JK> themselves. > Not the cooking tho but candle dipping and others.

 JK> That's neat :)

It was; we spent a fun day up there when we were stationed in Frankfurt.
Our church always had its Christmas service in the chapel there.

JK> > For sure! We wander thru grocery stores in new areas just to see
JK> what > they have new to us.

JK> Same here.. recently one of the stores in the area re-vamped their
JK> whole shop in Binghamton, and you could finally SEE some of the cool
JK> stuff they had :) My favorite though is the Asian store there.. you
JK> can find just about anything you might possibly want there.

Sounds interesting; will we tour it over the picnic week end? One of
the fun parts of last year's gathering was going thru a large Korean
store, seeing them make rice cakes on the spot and then buying a bag of
the best rice cakes we've ever tasted.

Found out the A&P in Margaretville (where my parents live) is closing;
it's the last grocery store there. Some other one is supposed to take
its place but my parents are skeptical it will happen.

>> Louisville.. now I'm curious :)

JK> > Do you still have connections in the area?

JK> Yes, one of the fellows who was in my net in Louisville has just
JK> recently returned to fidonet.. was great to talk to him again :)

It's always good to see familiar faces pop up again.

>> Right, understand why the cutting boards are important.

JK> > But not everybody uses them. We just want to take better care of
JK> the > place than is required.

JK> That's always a good idea. Even with my own "stuff", I'd rather take
JK> care of it than have it fall into disrepair or start to look all beat

Yes, and buying quality to begin with helps. We had a set of cheap
cookware my in laws gave us for a wedding present to start with. It
only lasted a few years and was replaced by the old Rangetoppers by
Corning. Used that about 12 years, then when we got back form Germany
in 92, got some Calphalon. That will be the one we will keep forever
most likely; I like good heavy cookware.

JK> up... years ago we sold our first house and moved into the upstairs of
JK> my mom's house.. we were trying our hand at our own software company,
JK> and my parents agreed to rent the upstairs to us.. it was great, but
JK> the kitchen she had upstairs was sadly lacking cabinet and counter
JK> space.. so that's when I bought the cabinets and center-island
JK> (movable with casters) that have the butcher-block counters.. We never

At least you had a kitchen up there. (G)

JK> installed them wherever we lived, just kept moving them along with us
JK> because they were so handy :) When we first ripped out the kitchen in
JK> this place, those cabinets were used to make up the first "large"
JK> central island here.. later we bought all new cabinets to do it with.

I've recycled lots of stuff from one place to the next. (G) Made a set
of bedroom curtains around 1990 when we were in Berlin; this is the
first place since then we've not used them & that only because we have a
small window in the bedroom.

>> Sure - I understand. Hope you're feeling ok, as well.

JK> > Doing better now; had a blood test today (will be weekly) just to
JK> keep > tabs on things.

JK> Makes sense. My son had to have radiation treatments.. probably as
JK> bad "stomach-wise" as chemo though I don't really know. It was a
JK> little rough at times, but he's doing great now and no signs of
 JK> cancer.

Good. So far, no problems with the stomach and radiation. Had a few
days when I wasn't too hungry but that was the bronchitis doing it to
me. We'll see what the next few weeks bring.

>> Talk about brain-dead haha :)

JK> > Are you blonde as well? (G)

JK> Not naturally haha.. this month though my hair is it's normal color,
JK> kinda reddish brown.. When I get bored I play with the colors :)

I'm naturally a dark blonde/brownish. I was lighter as a kid but it
darkened as I got older.

JK> What's funny is my brother, #4 kid in the family, is blond as can be..
JK> when he was little, he had this mop of long curls that the rest of us
 JK> would have killed for :) :)

Deborah had the really curly hair of our two. It's still that way but
she's got better control of it now. Currently she's growing it out for
(another) Locks of Love donation. Both girls have my hair color and
brown eyes but their hair is lots thicker than mine, and curlier, thanks
to Steve.

 JK> ====Roast Sausage Grill====
JK> 8 Italian sweet sausage links, about 1 1/2 pounds separated 4 large
 JK> potatoes, scrubbed

Droooooollllllllllllll!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (G)
