That's super.. but think of this... Labrador's are bird dogs hehe.. well I
guess all they would want to do would be catch one and bring it to me haha

It would be interesting to see if our village has any restrictions on that kind
of thing.. somehow I doubt it since (as you can tell from some people's reports
of the picnic here) we are so rural.

haha.. Goats do like to butt people, at least.. I took my grandson to a farm
once to feed the animals, and the silly goat did butt Alex in the behind.. I
guess the goat wanted more food :)


===Vegetarian Gluten Roast===
The first time I made this, my husband couldn't believe the gravy wasn't "Roast
Beef" gravy.


For the gluten flour "wheatmeat":

 * 1 cup vital gluten flour, purchased at a health-food store.
   3 Tablespoons yeast flakes
   1 teaspoon salt
   1 teaspoon garlic powder
   1 teaspoon onion powder
   2/3 cup water


Put the gluten flour in a bowl. Add the yeast flakes, salt, garlic powder and
onion powder. Mix these dry ingredients well.  When combined well, add 2/3 cup
water to the gluten flour and mix quickly.  You'll immediately have a stringy
mass of gluten. Knead for about 5 minutes then let it rest for 1/2 hour.

* This is not the same as bread or all-purpose flour, etc. You can make a batch
of gluten yourself from several cups of non-self rising, whole wheat, or bread
flour, or  un-bleached all-purpose flour, but it's a bit of work.  Essentially
you put the flour in a bowl, add about a cup or two of water and continue to
knead the flour, and squeeze it and rinse it and rinse it in the sink until you
are left with a stringy mass of gluten. Not only is this very time consuming,
but it is also more difficult to add the seasonings.  I've successfully added
very very finely minced fresh onions and  garlic to this type of gluten, but
the flavors are much better when you use the powdered spices with vital gluten
flour as above.

For the roasting:
   2 carrots
   2 stalks celery
   2 onions
   1 Tablespoon garlic powder
   1 Tablespoon miso soybean paste
   2 Tablespoons soy sauce
   1/4 teaspoon sage
   1 teaspoon basil
   1/4 cup molasses
   1/2 cup olive oil
   1 teaspoon salt
   1 teaspoon pepper

Put the gluten mass in a dutch oven. Add the carrots and celery,  chopped in 2
inch pieces as for stew. Put the onions in whole.

Mix the garlic powder, miso paste, molasses, soy sauce, sage, olive oil and
salt and pepper in separate container.  Pour this over the gluten. Add water to
barely cover. Cover the pot tightly and cook for 45 minutes or until tender.
Make gravy with pan juices and use leftover roast in fried gluten sandwich
recipes.
