Hmm, maybe that's why anything with tomato sauce causes me to go screaming to
the bathroom within minutes after eating it...I will have to look into that
cause, but it makes sense.

I've been on Avandia for several months with no (known) side effects.  I
recently ran out due to my doctor forgetting to schedule me for an appointment
(this is a typical thing with the VA).  I think my blood sugar's gone up a
little, but it's time for a medication change discussion.  With my CPhT
training and such, I tend to toss out things at her that catch her off-guard.
The main problem I have is that though my doctor wants to put me on better
medication, it's not on the VA's formulary and I'd have to pay out-of-pocket
for it, which can get rather spendy.

All I'm taking for my BP is lisonopril, which is an ACE inhibitor...I think
it's the gemfibrozil (a fibrate that I take for anti-lipids as well as
extended-release niacin) that doesn't like the grapefruit juice.

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06

      Title: (Caribbean) Duckbreast Served with Passionfruit Sauce
 Categories: Caribbean, Tnt, Duck, Sauces
      Yield: 4 Servings

      2    Duckbreast (500 gram)
           Sauce:
           The juice and meat from 2
           Passionfruits
      4 tb Granulated sugar
      6 tb Redwine vinegar
    1/4 c  Beefstock
           Salt and pepper
           Decoration:
      2    Kiwi in thin slices
      1    Orange in slices
    1/4    Grapefruit in slices

  Start to prepare the fruits for decoration then proceed to the sauce.
  Mix the sugar and vinegar in a sauce pan, when warm add the
  passionfruit juice (the fruitjuice has to be added before the sugar
  and vinegar start boiling). Stir it and let it reduce for a few
  minutes then add the beefstock let it reduce until it thickens, add
  salt and pepper as you like, remove it from the heat. Now start to
  prepare the duckbreast, place the breast in a hot fryingpan and let
  it cook until the fat melts or remove the fat. Finish to cook it in
  the oven (450F) to your taste (for medium 5-8 minutes). Decorate your
  plate with the fruits, cut the duckbreast in thin slices and place it
  on the plate. At last heat the sauce for a minute and pour it slowly
  over the meat and serve. Taste good with "Pommes Duchess" or
  gratinated potatoes.

  As dessert we simply propose a nice mixed flavored sherbet.
