Sounds about right. Why bother with bells/whistles one doesn't really
need or want... :)

DD> The girls need to learn that "you dance with who brung you". About 98%

They think that they know it already... they just forget who it really
was who brung them...

Exactly.

DD> Also, newer stores tend to be on the fringes of populated areas ... a
DD> fair trot from where I live.

That's often been the case here, too... at least from the viewpoint of
the urban communities... it's the ones in the city that get closed, and
the larger ones need more room, of course... so they get built outside
in suburbia. But at least they are still usually (not always) in fairly
built-up areas, and often on buslines. Lately, Weggies has been
utilizing land they already owned where Chase-Pitkin stores had been (a
hardware chain which Wegmans bought, and then fairly recently decided to
simply close them all) to either renovate smaller stores to larger ones
or to build a super one next door to the old one, and then tear down the
old one for parking... They did the latter to the store nearest our
church, and I have yet to go into the new store... where I used to hit
the former store every so often for stuff...

DD> The newer mega-marts are located far northeast, far south and far
DD> southwest, we have three - 2 Wally World Super Centres (which I refuse
DD> to patronise) and a Meijer.

We have far more mega-marts, consequently they are sometimes more
convenient than what you have... I'm in agreement on the WMSCs,
especially for food... I've only gone in them for/with someone else
(often under protest). But we also have a few Sam's Clubs and BJ's in
the greater area...

DD> When stuff that I need/want is located at opposite ends/corners of the
DD> store it's a major pain to get it all ... so, I generally go to a

Wegmans stores have a handful of motorized carts for the disabled...
I've been telling my neighbor that as they make the super stores the
standard, they really need to buy fleets of those carts, so as not to
lose the older population as customers...

DD> stupormarkup closer in (saving that U$4/gal gasoline) which does not
DD> require so much trekking about. If it costs within a couple percent
DD> of the prices at Meijer I am still money ahead on the basis of gasoline
DD> and the worth of my time. Bv)=

Yup. However... I have a WallyWorld right across the street from where
my Weggies used to be... the Powers That Be even used that as part of
their justification for closing the smaller store, that they were sure
that their potental customers were all shopping across the street...
(HAH!) Both are only about 2 miles from my house. The closest Weggies
now is double that, but that is still only 4 miles... Wally may be
cheaper AND closer, but I'M still not going there... ;0 (For one thing,
it's even bigger, and more tiring, of course... to say nothing of loss
of quality and integrity...)

It's all a matter of balance and weighing factors... ;)
