This strategy also works as an intimidation tactic.

Same with copyright. It's easier to put (c) on your stuff wholesale
than to put on a big disclaimer saying stuff like, parts of this
document, limited to the creative content included herein, are
protected by copyright. I've had this issue when moderating various
fora in other networks - some of these OCD guys would write in and
say, you can't allow recipes to be posted, they're copyrighted, and
I'd say, sez you, and they'd say, if you were a creative person like
(sic) I am, you'd think differently, and it would be all I could do
to keep my moderator hat on and bite my tongue rather than retort,
as with Beethoven, "wass ich scheisse ist besser dann als je du
hat gedacht (what comes out of my butt is better than anything
you ever wrote)." The closest I ever came was to intimate that if
they thought I was infringing on their property, feel free to sue
me, and I'd end up owning their house.

In my ideal world, which I inhabit much of the time, intellectual
property would be free with attribution; and there would be the
swift sword of death for filing off attributions. But, as below:

I agree given that there has to be incentive, in this craven world,
for creative and even merely persistent effort. Hence the protection
thing.

Anyone short of ConAgra or the bloodsucking slime that calls itself
a legal profession would agree on this.

If the farmers had as good lawyers as agribusiness, equity would
have dictated the opposite result. Perhaps they should have taken
the tack that the pollen was trespassing on their property?

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.04

      Title: Spicy Eggs
 Categories: Eggs, Brunch, Main dish
      Yield: 2 servings

     25 g  Butter
           -OR sunflower margarine
      2    Spring onions
           -- finely sliced
      1 ts Garam masala
      2    Tomatoes; skinned
           - and very finely chopped
      1 ts Turmeric (more if desired) - M's note: less if desired
      3    Eggs; beaten
           Salt and pepper
           Coriander leaves to garnish

  This is a kind of scrambled eggs 'Indian Style': a stir-fry of spring
  onions and tomatoes is flavoured with garam masala and turmeric, and
  then the eggs are scrambled into the mixture. Lovely with chapatis and a
  mixed salad.

  Melt the butter or margarine in a heavy-bottomed saucepan and soften the
  spring onions over a gentle heat for 4-5 minutes. Then add the garam
  masala and the chopped tomatoes and cook for a further 3-4 minutes.
  Season with the turmeric, salt and pepper and mix well, then pour in the
  eggs and begin to scramble them, stirring with a fork. When the eggs are
  lightly set but still moist - not dry and overcooked - serve at once on
  warm plates with a mixed salad and chapatis, garnished with fresh
  coriander leaves.

  To skin tomatoes:

  Put the tomatoes into a bowl and cover with boiling water. Leave to
  stand for 3-4 minutes, then the skin will peel off easily with a sharp
  knife.
