Salt is not a proximate cause of hypertension - although the sodium certainly
is a contributor. I suspect your borderline high blood pressure is a function
of age more than anything.

I seem to have developed an increased sensitivity to salt lately - along with
my changing appetite and resultant weight loss. I noticed the other day that I
used MUCH LESS salt on my mash 'n gravy than previously. But, I seem to make up
for it by using a lot more pepper ... and in some cases Cholula or Raven hot
sauce.

Still need some salt to "wake up the flavours" but, not nearly as much as
before. Sometimes I am just so virtuous that I sicken myself.   Bv)=

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06
 
      Title: Margaritas By The Pitcher (On The Rocks)
 Categories: Five, Booze, Beverages
      Yield: 5 servings
 
      3 c  Tequila, chilled
    3/4 c  Cointreau or triple sec;
           - chilled
  2 1/2 c  Fresh squeezed lime juice;
           - chilled
           Lime wedges
           Salt
 
  Make sure your ice cubes are fresh and plentiful.
  
  Mix together the tequila, triple sec and lime juice in a
  pitcher. To serve, rub the rim of each glass with a cut lime
  wedge and dip the rim into salt to coat it thoroughly.
  Reserve the lime for garnish.
  
  Fill glasses with ice cubes, and pour margarita mix over
  the ice. Garnish with lime wedges. Makes just over 6 cups.
  
  Note: You can buy containers of Margarita salt that are
  flat and handy for salting the glasses, but regular salt
  in a saucer works just fine.
